★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Broken down outside. rustic, simple and dusty inside.
Andrew was helpful but constantly pushing “items” more chemical , expensive and a lot more dangerous than the organic goodies San Jose is famous for. In town we were told by a local Andrew “andres” has a reputation attracting the “gringos drogados.” Owner did not seem to care and most of the guests looked like innocent teenagers.
Overall It’s a great location but not the clean and organic vibe we were searching for. When we return to San Jose del Pacifico we’ll stay in a hostel that embodies more of the local “magic” culture instead of being forced to hang out with addicts on vacation.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Me and my friends really enjoyed our week-long stay at El sueño atrapado. The rooms are cozy and comfortable with many blankets to crawl under on chilly nights and there’s also a very convenient shared kitchen. The vibe at the hostel is very friendly and all
the guests seem to be on the same wave. The staff including the volunteers were also super nice. And the views! I would definitely stay here again.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Paradise doesn’t describe this place enough. Besides the obvious beauty of the location, the staff, specifically Andrew, are so friendly and incredibly knowledgeable. This place is great for healing physically/emotionally/spiritually. We stayed a week and that wasn’t long enough to truly get a taste of this magical place. Highly recommend

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Cool place. Clean, cheap, relaxed. Only thing is that the owner got crazy at some point and asked for mandatory masks, even outside. Laughable, but would stay again despite the situation.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Well, all I can really advise is make sure you see the place first and know what you’re getting into. Don’t have high expectations here - these are pretty rustic accommodations. The kitchen was comically dirty and dark, I felt uncomfortable just standing in it - the outdoor bathrooms are also extremely unpleasant and also dark. No toilet seats. There was a bathroom in our dorm room, but also had no light, no warm water and not even a door for that matter. There’s no soap to be found anywhere. But for the price, what can you expect, I guess?
All of that said, the dorms had an undeniable rustic charm, and all the beds were very clean, cozy and comfortable, and I guess when you’re trying to get a good nights rest, that’s what counts! It also looks like it’s undergoing a lot of updates from the caretaker, so I’ll chalk it up under a ‘work in progress’. The location is up a ways on the hill so be ready to break a sweat if you have luggage, it’s worth it though as the view is incredible, probably the best part of the stay. The staff were really nice and accommodating, and there’s a pack of extremely cuddly cats present that will likely find their way into your lap.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ What a wonderful place. It's not high season so it's very quiet. Cozy wooden cabins, clean and warm, all for a very reasonable price. There's kitchen and outdoor seating area. The bathrooms and shower are downstairs so it's a bit cold but there's hot water! It's not on top of the hill but still has a good view of the town. The boy that works there Victor is super nice and friendly. The only downside is that wifi doesn't work. We had a great time there!
