I went with my friend to the embassy, and the HOC currently at the embassy needs to be removed immediately. Arrogant to another level and doesn't have a cent of diplomacy.

They have awful service, the guy who I spoke to, didn't ask a single question and wasn't even attempting to be nice, he simply wasn't listening to me, he treated me as if I was stupid and couldn't comprehend what I was doing

This Indian Embassy in beautiful Polanco Mexico City is the worst run that I have had the privilege of visiting and I have visited Indian embassies and consulates in the USA, across Europe, in Japan, Singapore, United Arab Emirates, and New Zealand. The “acting” Ambassador Juhi Rai, and the Attaché, Vivek Kumar, are clear reasons why the SC/ST quota (Indian Affirmative Action) no longer works 70+ years after India’s Independence. My grandmother Shantha V Pai died in May. I visited the esteemed Embassy in Polanco 4 times with different results - all of them brutally un-Indian. Ruthless and disrespectful to a point where I have to post this review publicly. I am the only living male descendant (first born and only son of my mother who is an only child) and only grandson of Shantha Bai - a lady who’s name appears in the Indian Constitution. A lady who was a fearless Gandhian, Freedom Fighter, Women’s and Child Rights Activist. Visit 1: Steal my money (you pay the application fee in 3 different formats) and my time visit 2: Invited to the acting Ambassadors Chambers - ordered to maintain the “sanctity of the embassy” - while Juhi Rai goes back to checking Tinder and Vivek Kumar his Facebook Remember I am In mourning. The most important person in my life just died. Sorry for not being perfectly sanctimonious. Visit 3: I and my medical attendant (a UNAM medical student) visit. This time at 2 pm we are assaulted by the security guard who literally puts his hands on us and pushes us out of the building on Vivek Kumar’s orders. Visit 4: the watchman Nithin returns my Persol sunglasses that Vivek Kumar tried to steal. Thank you for your honestly Nithin! I decide not to enter. My grandmother died. I gave up my India passport to become a USA passport holder. I have multiple entry tourist visa to India valid till 2024 but invalid currently thanks to Covid. I cannot visit India to cremate my grandmother because: 1) Photos of Facebook are not proof. Her attending my wedding in Las Vegas are probably photoshppped. 2) my birth certificate is proof that I am My parents son but they also need my mothers birth certificate to prove that she is my grandmothers daughter. My Mother is in mourning in Chennai. Her birth certificate is inside the Godrej in Bangalore. So it isn’t possible to provide. 3) they need proof that I surrendered my Indian passport. This one takes the cake. If I had my Indian passport why would I be at your embassy requesting a visa! And since I know I surrendered it to become an American, the burden of proof lies in your hands. Fire up one of those two beauties computers and hit search. Vivek Kumar and Juhi Rai prove that 1) disrespectful uneducated people should not be given positions of power in distant foreign lands because they represent us, Indians, poorly 2) the time to end the SC/ST quota in India is NOW!

I wish to share with all of you about the amazing attention and customer service from Ms. Paulina Macias from Consular Service. Not only did she go out of her way to help me, but also followed up on my passport renewal personally to ensure the process was completed on time. Kudos to you! I a pretty sure the Indian Embassy is so proud of someone with so much enthusiasm and positivity in their team.
