Enterprise-National Car Rental - 15520 Ciudad de México

These guys are con artists, I picked up my vehicle after midnight. Well I guess I should start off by saying that the kiosks and offices at the airport are empty, at least at night. I had to look up the CS number in my reservation email to figure out that you have to call them so that they can send a van to pick you up. Service at the counter (off-site) was good during pick up. The vehicle, even though I had reserved a "Premium" was very disappointing. It was a bare bones Jetta with worn interiors. I guess I am used to the service I receive in the states as an executive member... Oh by the way, if you are a Emerald Club member in the US, and you have never rented a car from National in Mexico, get ready to sign your life away! You even have to sign the blank papers detailing the damage to the vehicle upon return!!! I guess things work a bit differently down there. Vehicle worked fine, even though it was running on like seemed like 2 cylinders. The problem came when I returned the vehicle. Apparently after 10 hours of international travel, my inspection skills are not at their prime... I missed a crack in a small reflector on the lower right corner of the rear bumper. The inspector (like another reviewed on here mentioned) casually honed in to the damage as he began his inspection. The lady on the counter forced me to fill out an accident report and told me that she would look into past inspection records to see if it was noted. 4 weeks later there were charges on my credit card but no calls or emails or invoices or nothing. Customer service in the US was zero help to my surprise... It is very easy to see that there is residue of some form of polishing compound near the broken reflector. This is very clear evidence that the damage was done to the vehicle and repaired, but left the broken piece there for the next customer to miss during his/her inspection so that they could stick them with the charge. In summary, if you have to rent a vehicle from this thieves, make sure you do a thorough walk around, take pictures and video if possible. Any damage you do not document will have been done by you... It is a shame that National allows their partners to operate in such manner.

The price doubled with insurances. I walked to Sixt two doors down and got a better deal. I will never rent from here again. I should have never switched from Sixt. They may be the only retal company that charges what they quote online.

Extra payments for insurance... Car plates from US, this will atract you problems.

I don’t recommend renting from enterprise national. They lied and said I needed to pay for additional insurance, that it’s some law in Mexico. However when I flew to Cancun days later the enterprise their didn’t require it and said that this office had lied. Luckily my credit card reversed charges. This location will try to scam you into buying more insurance. I explained my card covers up to X amount and I’m insured through my card. They kept insisting that’s not true, when in reality they were lying. I’ll never rent from them again. The car was not good either. I was suppose to get a Jetta and got a tiny Nissan.

Car was way below expectations regarding model, but it was well maintained. I had reserved a Nissan X-Trail 3 Row, but got a Suzuki Ertiga that barely held speed in the highway.

My first time with them They respected the price in the website. I reserved and pre-payed one day before.. The car was nicer than expected. They were not pushy in trying to sell me additional stuff... I did not get insurance and they didn't make me feel bad about it, they just explained that they will put a hold in my credit card for about 2500 usd. I will definetely rent again from here.

Excellent service and quality cars at the rental center. Just be careful as soon as you leave the airport as police are waiting to give “the tourist” a ticket and get a bribe. Must me a common occurrence as they warned us about it when we picked up the car. They said I could either take my license or pay a fine of Mex$8000($400 us) , they eventual negotiated and we agreed on $100. Absolutely ridiculous. The definition of a Narco state / banana republic. I would avoid an expensive flashy car if you don’t want to be a target. You would think the car companies would have some arrangement with the local police not to harass their customers.
