★ ★ ★ ★ ★ En los años cincuenta los Viveros de Coyoacán era un sitio donde practicaban los aspirantes a toreros y novilleros, mucho antes de que aumentara la asistencia de corredores.
En el centro de este parque hay un claro redondo, espacioso y plano donde se imparten talleres de tauromaquia los sábados y domingos de 8 a 10 de la mañana.
El profesor y Director General de la Escuela Taurina Mexicana es el Matador Alfredo Gómez, "El Brillante", y los entusiastas alumnos son principalmente niños y niñas, aspirantes a novilleros, a quienes se les permite tomar los avíos y sentir el toreo, en un entorno de disciplina y cordialidad, donde se enaltece la fiesta brava.
"El Brillante" se consagró como Matador el 31 de marzo de 1979, de manos del Maestro Manolo Martínez.
Este conocido parque fue fundado en 1893 por el ingeniero Miguel Ángel de Quevedo y Zubieta. Quevedo solicitó la intervención de José Ives Limantour, que en aquel entonces era el Secretario de Hacienda y amante de la naturaleza, para lograr que Don Porfirio Díaz apoyara el proyecto.
