A true and incomparable architectural wonder. Impressive views of the jungle that surrounds Calakmul is what we will be able to appreciate from the top of this structure. It is well worth the hours of travel to get here.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Una de las estructuras más impresionantes de la Zona Arqueológica de Calakmul. Desde lo alto se aprecia muy bien lo extenso de la selva, y otras estructuras (Como la Estructura II y la Plaza Central). Es un poco más chica que la Estructura II, pero vale la pena la escalada.
One of the most impressive structures in the Archaeological Zone of Calakmul. From the top you can appreciate very well the extent of the jungle, and other structures (such as Structure II and the Central Plaza). It is a little smaller than Structure II, but it is worth the climb.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The 60km ride is totally worth! So secluded and admirable ! It was super hot and humid but still we went all the way of the main structures! Totally worth a visit!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This was a long drive from some of the more popular tourist destinations, but SO worth it, even solo. The ride out was incredibly peaceful, especially the last hour or so after the turnoff to the Calakmul site, which is mostly dense forest.
Most of the signs were in English as well as Spanish, which was helpful for me as I haven't quite achieved full Spanish fluency.
Make sure you bring your own food and drinks in, and plan for extra time at the site. I am in good health and I regularly hike and climb for fun, but there are so many climbable structures that I was tired out more quickly than I had anticipated! Plan to spend some time resting in the shade and watching for birds and monkeys :)
