Prepare to be fleeced if you rent from MXDC airport. I plan to make a formal complaint against Europcar. The agent in Mexico City refused to release the car without my paying for insurance which was not compulsory or legally required because I have insurance coverage through the credit card that I was using. The Europcar agent refused to accept a copy of Europcar's own terms and conditions (provided both in Spanish and in English} that specified that liability insurance is not compulsory and refused to accept the printed terms of the credit card company detailing insurance coverage. The agent was rude, refusing to speak in English although he clearly did speak English. his behavior amounted to extortion (but appears to be SOP for all companies at MEX). On top of that, the agent tried to add in an additional drop-off fee for return to HUX (Oaxaca) rather than MEX. a fee which had been paid for in the original booking. Goods things about Europxar itself: 1: Their system automatically takes photographs of all angles of the car as you leave the facility when you leave MEX. these photo's are emailed to you so there is no arguemtn as to what damage is on the car whne you picked it up. 2: car whilst basic, worked, including the A/C 3: Agent at HUX quickly removed the added on drop-off fee.

I wish I could give this zero stars. This is by far the worst car rental company I've ever dealt with. There was "mandatory" insurance that they didn't mention when booking and it costed $50USD PER DAY when my rental in total was $131CAD for 9 days. Major scam. Dropping off the car was the worst part. There was one single person inspecting the cars when there were multiple cars lined up to be inspected. They do a thorough inspection, taking roughly 10-15 minutes per car. Then there was one person inside to have people sign documents to return the hold. We were missing the plate at the front, so we understood we had to pay for it, but when we got inside, the person ignored almost everything we asked and wouldn't inform us who he was talking to or what he was doing. He kept saying "one second, one second," but would never reply to our questions. There was no fee schedule or any indication of how the amount they got to was determined, so they definitely scammed us another $268USD. We just had to pay it because at this point, we had been there for almost 1.5 hours and we only had one hour before our flight. Since there was only one person working the counter, there were probably 10 groups of people behind us, all frustrated, because everyone else was also in a rush to get to the airport to make their flights. Terrible experience, terrible customer service, terrible business practices and procedures. We will never rent from this company ever again and we will make sure we tell everyone who is traveling to Cancun airport to never rent with this company.

This is NOT a good rental car agency. Their systems are completely wrong, it took us an hour to get our car. From the service desk at the airport to the exit gate we dealt with 6 different people. They tried using the QR code to allows to leave but couldn't. The salesperson used scare tactics to lure me to purchase extra insurance, but I did not bite. If you want to rent a car, use ALAMO.

AVOID EUROPCAR AT ALL COST!!! I was also scammed with the insurance so at the end I have to pay double the amount. When I returned the car, after the inspection I was told I will receive a refund of my $300 deposit due to the car being in good conditions and nothing. I have sent them countless emails, call them by phone and trying to chat with them and nothing. Do not believe Europcar when they answer these google reviews saying that they are sorry and want to hear from you by email, because THEY DO NOT ANSWER THEIR EMAILS! they just do it so whoever reads these reviews thinks the problems were resolved which they weren't!. Again AVOID EUROPCAR! THEY ARE SCAMMERS!!

I also fell for their insurance scam. I pre-paid the rental itself, which I knew did not include insurance. So I bought primary insurance through Allianz. I also had secondary insurance through American Express. Didn't matter. They would NOT release the car until I bought THEIR insurance which totaled more than twice the auto rental itself. They said I could cancel the reservation. Great, give me my money back, I'll go elsewhere. Nope. Can't get your money back. So they are thieves and this is extortion. Tomorrow, I will dispute the insurance charge with Mastercard and file a complaint with PROFECO. .

Do not rent- fraudsters Do not rent. They tried to charge us extra money when returning the car stating that their other office that we used to extend our rental had charged us a wrong rate. We refused to pay the extra and then they decided to charge our card that was given as a deposit anyway without or permission!

Will not recommend. Best to use Uber or Taxi. (1)Tried first to leave a experience review on there website and can't even get in to process it. (2) If you purchased insurance in the states they don't validate it in Mexico, you have to purchase a new insurance. We paid $298 for mid level coverage 5 days and $840 credit hold. (3) The vehicle got a scratch, called insurance coverage to process it. Return the vehicle and for them to tell us the insurance does not cover it and paid additional $109 for the scratch, because supposedly the insurance we purchased did not cover scratches. The guy kept on blaming his co-worker for not selling us the correct insurance. Poor service, scam all around. NEVER will I rent a vehicle in Mexico.

Do not rent this company at all. They are just doing wrong things. I returned the car clean and washed and after a few days they do not return my deposit. But they think they are smart not to return your deposit. There are many ways to get your deposit back. I informed all of the related parties to stop their employees from renting this company as this company is professional and they just want to overcharge you. Worst rental company ever.
