We were staying in Zihuatanejo for a few days and decided to drive around. Europcar was one of the available for online booking (Europcar has an app for iOS devices), so we requested small car, price for two days was USD 20 (without insurance). Normally my credit card company covers insurance when you pay with it but when we arrived, Europcar's clerk told us that they can't rent us a vehicle without insurance, so we purchased CDW for slightly over USD 50 (two days, covers 90% of damage or total loss) After filing paperwork, we went to check vehicle, list of scratches and damages was already there but after checking it myself, found more items to add. Recommended to take pictures of the vehicle, so when you return to avoid arguments over some scratches and dents. Fuel tank wasn't full, so it's good to compare actual reading with paperwork. If you flying back from Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo Airport, you can drop off your car and fly back, Europcar's location is just few minutes walking away from terminal or they can drop you off. They also offer MiFi USD 4.99 per day plus taxes, so you can be connected while you travel, we didn't rent it because I had Movistar 3G, which can be purchased in any big store or small specialized kiosks.

Horrible place. Don't be fool by the pricing. After RESERVING the car online and paying for it. They needed another 800.00 to hold for the car that wasn't worth 300.00 bucks. Not to mention they didn't want to give my deposit back in time. I had to call many times to get my money back. Good luck if you have to rent from this place.

Rip off. You WILL get burned on insurance. $375 for car rental $800+ for fake insurance

Do not rent a car here, period. Upon arrival, the car category I had reserved was not available, so they downgraded the vehicle without changing the price. The alternate car offered had a cracked windshield, with a crack that spanned more than half of it, making it unsafe to drive. Other vehicles within that category were available, but all had a similar large windshield crack ("due to coconuts falling from trees" they said). Europcar refused to offer me the only vehicle available that did not have a cracked windshield because it was one level higher than what I had reserved. They tried to explain that cars in Mexico are like that. Well, I have rented many cars in Mexico and never seen this issue. It is indeed a strange explanation since one gets charged immediately when a car is returned with a cracked windshield. Apparently, that money does not go towards repairs. This was my first and last experience with Europcar.

Don't rent here! We booked online a car with all the nessesary insurance (europcar confirmed this in the email). At the counter they didnt gave us the car unless we paid another thirdparty insurance, which was more expansive than the car rental (500$). What a scam! Rent somewhere else!

Beautiful place, very well kept up. Pool is wonderful, Beach access with chair/umbrella provided. Quiet peaceful place!

What a bad company, dont rent there! We made a online booking which says that we have all necessary insurances. At the counter the staff told us, that we need an additional insurance for 500usd. What a scam! After three days we had a problem with the car which was not the result uf our usage. Even a mechanic confirmed that the problem was existing before. After reaching the hotline we had to drive 60‘ back to the airport to discuss the issue. The staff was waining there with the credit card machine in the hand and informed us, that we have to pay more than 750usd for the issue (which was not made by us!!!). After a long discussion, which took us more than 3 hours, the staff lowered the price to 600usd. Tired and angry we finally agreed to the price in order to end the discussion and to continue our holidays. What a scam. Really, dont go there! They wont miss any opportunity to scam you. And customer oriented service is not existing for this company.
