★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Service was okay but I was sadly disappointed to encounter unexpected "insurance" fees that more than tripled an initial booking cost. I booked through Travelocity and when we were taken to their off aiport location, I was informed of additional insurance needed even though Travelocity rental agreement said it included $750,000 MXN in coverage. Initial booking was $200 for 10 days but with their added insurance it was quoted over $1,200 USD. After some "discounts" it was lowered to $500+ USD. We took a taxi to our rental and looked for a car the next day since we were driving to PE. I found Only Car Rental in downtown Oaxaca and their total cost was $400 including all insurance which was less than all 6 other car rentals I contacted. They also delivered the car to our house and were super accommodating when we had to extend our rental for one day. Sadly disappointed to discover all previous bad reviews of Europ car were true. It should not cost more than 3 times what is agreed with US provider to rent a car in Mexico.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We rented a car for one day from Oaxaca to Puerto Escondido. With the online discount (for first time Europcar accounts or something like that), an automatic Kia Rio sedan cost us $4,700 MXN with the highest level of insurance. I can see why the insurance charges over and above the base rate can be confusing and frustrating, but we booked well in advance, read all the reviews, and paid online in advance to reserve the car. There was a little wait at the drop-off location but otherwise everything went smoothly.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Rented a car through europcar via Expedia. Payed the extra money on Expedia for the insurance. Got to the europcar and they wanted to charge us an additional 800 USD for insurance, more than double what the car + insurance originally cost. We balked and didn't end up getting the car. Found a local company that rented us a similar vehicle for much less with insurance included.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Save time don't waste it even looking into this place... I reserved a car online alliance sold me an insurance I purchased it so I would be covered. Get to the place they won't let me drive off unless I purchase their insurance for an additional 884.00 DOLLARS. I have been trying to get a refund from alliance but have been ignored they should already know this place does not accept their insurance as I am not the first this occurred to. It is a SCAM

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Stay away! They charged me for wrongful damage and would not respond to countless calls and emails over a 4. month period to attempt to rectify the situation.
The cost is alluring--but if you add the false charges it becomes the most expensive service. Stay away!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Was told mandatory basic insurance was $51 pesos in total for a 3 day rental. They ended up charging $51 usd per day without disclosing that it was for the insurance alone, not the cost of the rental and insurance. Also put a $1333 usd hold on Credit Card. Not worth the hassle

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We arrived to get our car and asked about protesters in the area before driving, they said it was safe and not to worry. Well, immediately after driving away from the car rental pickup we almost got kidnapped and, or died in the protest, less than a kilometer away from the car rental office.
When we returned they took no responsibility of the damage and showed minimal concern for our well being. I had to pay for all the damage to the car, even though they said the area was fine and we were attacked just a few hundred meters from their office.
I'd find a better rental location, as this one was all by itself in a bad area.
