They aggressively upsell their insurance - held us there for an extra 45 minutes while they tried to force us to buy their supplemental insurance. After repeated refusal, they placed an $8000 USD hold on our credit card for the cost of the car. Upon return, they spent 15 minutes looking for damage to charge us for. Skip the hassle. Go to Hertz

Buyer beware. I'd give zero stars if it was an option. I have rented many times in Mexico but never before (and never again) with Europcar. I booked thru a third party site and when I arrived and declined coverage because my Amex provides coverage far superior to what they were offering, they tried to tell me that Amex doesn't cover Mexico (it does). Then they said they needed a letter from Amex including a specific government agency. When I got that, they told me I needed to leave a deposit for the full price of the car ($25k - Amex covers $100k). The whole thing is a sham. Don't bother. You won't win. Book early with Hertz!

I never write reviews but other customers should be warned before using Europcar. The price of the car was not as promised. I agreed to pay $266 total on the website, which included all "required" fees, taxes, and insurance. It even included additional insurance protection. When I arrived at the pick-up location, the employee told me that I could not leave by paying only $266. (He was very nice and professional, actually.) I had to pay additional insurance which nearly double the cost of the rental car. I had to pay $466, and that only included the most basic insurance allowed. Furthermore, the car that was agreed upon was a Renault Kwid or similar. There was no such car, nor anything similar. Instead, we were given an automatic transmission car (that had trash in it) with extremely low ground clearance, which made travel an enormous burden. If there are local insurance requirements, as I was told, Europcar should include them in the advertising and in the total price. I will never use Europcar again because of the false advertising and false pricing.

You will not say you have not been warned… Totally unprofessional: they lure you with very attractive price, and then they force to pay for an additional insurance which nearly double the cost of the rental car. Please Europcar, if it is mandatory, include it directly in the price… I will never use Europcar again because of the false advertising and false pricing.

Worst experience ever to rent a car, we expense more than 2 hour for the check in and 1,5 hour to check out. My recommendation to rent the car in the airport and not in Zicatela. The people at the reception it is not professional at all. Also the internet connection is very bad so to update the documents it is a nightmare.

DO NOT RENT HERE My partner and I booked online and it said everything was covered, upon going there they said it was going to be extra for insurance, they wanted more per day than our entire rental. Staff was not friendly, we booked an automatic car with AC and that was not what was provided. Would not recommend this place.

I was overcharged for a 4 day rental. When I booked a car on Expedia, the email mentioned Fox car rental which turns out to be with Europcar. I had already paid insurance when I booked it online. However, when I was there, I was told about a mandatory insurance and a coverage plan for external damages. Since I didn't have my CC I was charged an additional 5% on my debit card, so I easily got charged over $800 dollars. Plus when returning the vehicle, Irma who works there, did her "inspection" of the vehicle and said the seats were wet, when we had been careful and mindful of the use of thr car. However, according to her there was an additional $500 pesos in penalties. I was very upset and told her I didn't want her to charge it to my card as they had already charged me a percent for use of my debit card. When I pulled out cash, she said well its $500 pesos plus tax?. I just paid her in cash and asked for a receipt. She said she had cancelled my contract for the duration of the rental as of O8JUl2021but still haven't received the email!!!
