The cost you see when you reserve online is not what you’ll end up paying when you get there. The insurance they try to charge you is unreal and they require a $13,000 USD hold on your credit card if you decline insurance. We decided to take Ubers instead and the cost was so much more reasonable. Stay away!

The website says Punta Mita office. Do NOT rent from there. They have a desk in the Palladium but no one is ever there. Today alone I called 78 times and the phone was busy for 2 hours straight. Waited almost 3 hours for the car to be delivered. Waited 1 hour for the car to be picked up. You have to wait on the road as the hotel does not recognize the company unless you are an actual guest of the hotel. I do NOT recommend this company. Use Gecko if at all possible. If you take the 90% insurance coverage they charge your credit card 1250.00 USD for deposit on the deductible. You’ve been warned.

Terrible experience. We booked online, bought full insurance, they will still refuse to give you the car unless you purchase extra insurance at the desk at a price several times what the advertised rental was. And apparently the extra insurance we'd purchased online, they refuse to accept. On top of that the desk attendant was extremely rude. Basically just said we can pay the extra 380 USD, or leave without a car, and without a refund. So we're stuck in mexico, having already spent around 300 to rent a car for the week (this included insurance), and we can either lose that 300, and be stuck without a car, or pay more to not have our trip ruined. They basically hold you hostage, and know they have you trapped. Our experience appears to be the standard. The line up to both pick up and drop off is LONG - and it's all people in the same situation. Everybody who leaves the place is annoyed and grumbling about how they got ripped off. Literally every single group we saw go through. It is NOT the way you want to start your vacation. Would never recommend Europcar to anyone.

2/13/2022 Warning!!! " EUROPCAR" customers..... Stay away from this company! They advertise cheap car rentals, but then try to charge you over $800 for "Manditory Insurance". Upon further discussions, they agreed to only charge us about $500 for the same. After even more talk dropped the price to about $200! What a waste of time and not the way to start off a vacation. Our car was advertised through FOX for $20/day for a term of 5 days. Europcar is a third party for FOX and wants to Hyjack you bank when you arrive there and need a car. Stay far away from them!

Terrible experience, reserved car not available, hidden prices, very slow processes and no way to return a car when the office was close. I was instructed how to return the car when the office was closed, instructed to leave the car in front of the business driveway and place the keys in a drop box. When I went to return the car before the office was opened the entire front was covered with parked cars leaving no space to park my return vehicle. I had to just leave the car on the road, then there was no place to return the keys, no drop box in sight. I left the keys in a forced opened window and immediately sent an email indicating what I had done. As of today I have not heard back from Europcar verifying the return. I still don't understand, if I had a reserved car why there was not one available. I was offered a smaller car for the exact same price and had no choice in accepting if I wanted a car. In all honesty I am anticipating additional changes on my credit card due to the horrible return experience.

Hello to future renters of cars Like many others we were forced to pay for insurance, on a hot muggy day all you want do is get to your location to cool down and relax. I was told buy my car insurance company that I am covered for international driving of a vehicle( don't get scammed) but I forgot to grab the copy of my insurance plus I too have coverage on my VISA but they said no not acceptable. Also I have many Mexican friends they tell most cars driving around town are not insured so hopefully you don't get in accident with them. Plus we had to put down $1200.00 US deposit on our credit card. It has been three weeks since we have returned the car and still HAVE NOT received a return on of funds back on credit card. We have contacted them , all they can say is that they gave the bank a form to release the funds when translated says it could take up 30 days. It takes 5 minutes to charge your credit card but 30 days to get money back. Seriously shaking my head.. Good thing the car was great...but the nightmare to get money back is like eating sour limes

Booked a car from 10-16. Needed to change to 7-13 (same amount of days) at the same office. After being on hold for 1h on the phone, they said they can make the change only if I pay the difference. After pointing out there is no difference, they backtracked and said it date change fee. After I pressed them on this, they threatened me that if I don't pay them they will not change. After I agreed to pay by credit card, they asked for cash. I refused, then thay asked my credit card details on my phone, I of course refused that. Then they said it's your own fault you don't produce credit card and that I need to pay in cash on location. Never using nor should you use Europcar. Use Sixt instead, its a little bit more expensive, but they don't steal or scam people

$80 online booking. $13,000 USD deposit if you don’t take insurance. $450 if i took the lowest insurance with a $2000 deposit. This is the worst experience I’ve ever had of any service oriented place i have ever been. We scrapped this and just took Ubers. Stay away
