Es el estándar de oro en Cirugía Bariátrica (el procedimiento mejor conocido y que ofrece los mejores resultados).
En este procedimiento se confecciona un «nuevo» estómago más pequeño y se cambia la ruta por donde transitan los alimentos.
Las ventajas de este procedimiento es una mayor pérdida de peso que con Manga Gástrica (85% del sobrepeso) y algunas enfermedades asociadas tienden a controlarse mejor.
Quizás la mayor desventaja es la necesidad de la ingesta de vitaminas a largo plazo para mantenerte saludable, pero el costo de esto es muy bajo comparado con el beneficio del mantenimiento de la pérdida de peso.
Puede tener algunas consecuencias como el síndrome de Dumping y las hernias internas, pero son muy poco frecuentes.
