Evolve Fitness Center is one of the best gyms in Playa del Carmen, where you can also train Muay Thai and Jiu-Jitsu. Excellent facilities and location, but the most valuable asset is its personnel and trainers, such as Coach Luis Fandiño and Sensei Jorge Conde.

Nice place a lot space

This store does not take any measures against covid-19. No one wears a closed window mask. Even the instructors at the store don't wear masks. I opened the window as a risk measure, but the instructor purposely closed the window. I want you to learn more about covid-19, and if you run a fitness gym, do the minimum. If it does not improve, report it to the health center or government.

ac should be a little colder. other than that very nice gym, lots of machines and great people. for bodybuilders possible the best in playa. if you are not serious bodybuilder go to California for spotless clean and aerobics

Great place-lots of space. Requirements-bring towel to wipe you down but the majority of people do NOT follow the protocol wipe off all equipment after using with spray and rag provided or a paper towel. The expression “no azotar las pesas”-means do not bang the weights is just an expression—-nobody reads the signs or dies that. Now today 7 January news that PDC is in zona amarilla…perhaps the owners can police sanitation if he wants to keep his gyms open. My observation only!

*The Good* Due to a recent refurb, there’s a downstairs turf area with plenty of room for functional training and a squat rack with Olympic weights. It’s the only place you can do a pull up with it’s small frame on the side (if you’re over 5”5 might have to bend your knees) and you can lift heavy with the BBell here in relative peace. Some KB and balls and bits for funcional training, TRX and ropes etc Huge mirrored wall too so you can check your form as upstairs a lot of the mirrors stop half way Plenty of equipment and machines with new ones added regularly (though some have probably never been touched) and I can always find enough weights and clamps - unlike Evolve on 5th The receptionist and cafe female staff are really friendly and warm. We always smile and chat. Once I took my shoes off because barefoot training is the one, and even when I got reprimanded as it’s against the rules, she was really sweet about it There’s some clean simple food at the little coffee/cafe/fruit/supplements station The crowd pretty much knows what they are doing and serious gym goers, but I don’t feel like it would be too intimidating for beginners. There’s a large cardio section but I never go there and a spinning studio which is being refurbished *The Bad* Out of all the Evolve gyms in Playa, this has got to be the stuffiest… It feels like a bit of a sweat box no matter where you stand. I come out drenched and I’m not even much of a sweater The locker room is pretty bog standard. Hardly any lockers that actually lock. Super busy during peak and in the evenings - though I don’t find myself waiting for equipment that often. But I do tend to go off peak times (10-11am/3-5pm) The no shoes rule is stupid. Any good coach knows that a cushioned shoe unstable. One super grumpy “coach” or worker that’s always there singled me out the one time I forgot my towel, despite religiously wiping equipment down and others not having a towel. He told me to stop working out till I got one. Ruined my workout. Cafe only takes cash
