★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We rented a car for one night, the guy who rented us the car showed us the car had no visible scratches. We returned the car the next day with only a bit of mud on it.
The “owner” got down on his knees and looked way underneath the bumper and “found” a scratch. He tried to charge us $100 USD for something u cannot see unless u go underneath the car, claiming it devalues the car! He was extremely rude and I was a bit surprised of how he treated us!
Looks somewhere for a car rental or expect this scammer to try get ur money

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ When they check the car upon rental, they tell u to look on the doors and bumper standing. Then they tell us stuff like u have to return the car with the stereo still attached and the tools for the spare tire in the trunk. Nothing prepared me to their inspection. The guy looked on a tiny scratch way underneath the car, place he had to get on the floor to see, and decided it will cost us $1900 pesos. He argued we have to pay or he will give us troubles ! DONT RENT THERE!!!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Booked a VW Gol for 1 day, 950 pessos. It’s relatively expensive but convenient as you don’t have to go to Chetumal if you have limited time. We didn’t find another option in Bacalar.
We had a flat tire on the road, we replaced it with the spare. Upon returning the car they deducted 500pesos from the 3000 deposit. If you have time, it’s cheaper (around 80pesos as friends told) to do it at a shop along the road.
Staff was friendly, the car was good.
