And end the tour with something to eat at the restaurant. It is really good.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The place is very nice, debatably the best facilities in the area. The full staff was incredibly friendly. Take their free tour! You can taste as much mezcal as you want before buying. I will definitely go back for more bottles of mezcal.
We also ate there, the food was good as well as the view, although a bit overpriced for my liking.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Visited this palenque on a Mezcal tour and what a great place to see the entire process of making Mezcal. This is not the best Mezcal I've had while in Oaxaca (*cough* Santa Catarina Minas *cough*) but it's nice to see different ways of making mezcal; this one uses more modern distillation and mashing methods vs. the ancestral ones. If you like Illegal mezcal, this is the place to check out.

We did however do a mezcal tasting and let me tell you i learned more from the man who did the tasting with us then I did from all of the other tours I went on (4)!
Their mezcal is delicious, the location feels so authentic and rustic and the staff is exceptionally kind knowledgable.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great service! Super friendly staff. Had a complimentary mezcal tasting. Most mezcals were great. Nice, cozy, and original venue. Outdoor seating available to grab a mezcal cocktail. Not expensive at all. Close to the main highway. A must when traveling to Matatlan.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Worst experience in Oaxaca, we were en route to the mezcal route when we saw Mal de Amor and decided to stop for lunch. Food was utterly disgusting and overpriced, service was horrible and full of flies. The only nicety of this location are the quotes written by patrons, other than that it is a for sure skip you’re better off going into town.
