★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Right at the entrance to Mitla... with their own palenque (complete with millstone and barrels and everything!) They were pressing the juice from the cooked agave as we passed by. We said: "This is the place to stop!" We spent quite a while sampling and talking with the owner before we departed with several bottles!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A family run distillery and shop specializing in Mezcal and flavored mezcals locally called "cremas." The store is small and operated by the owner's granddaughter while the distillery is in the back, literally. Very reasonable prices, especially when compared to some other shops but the selection of Mezcal is a bit limited. Only 4 or 5 different types avaiable, they are all pretty tasty though, especially the 60 proof one. Yummy!
