Nice hotel, the people working at it are very kind, the beds are really confortable. Everything is very clean

Very clean, no heat or AC, low water pressure but lots of hot water eventually. I had to plug in the fridge and microwave, no daily housekeeping, traffic to Ajajic is thick, friendly staff, no English.

Really nice place, it's really comfortable and clean, you will sleep without problems, the only problem is that it's pretty far than the city you need to take a bus to go to the town.

Unfortunately I have to give a 1 star review of this hotel experience. My wife and I booked La Riberena with Expedia and upon arrival discovered that they had booked us into the most expensive largest suite. We didn’t need such a large room and requested the smaller alternative to which, the hotel accommodated us. However, they continued to charge us for the larger room, a difference of 1800 pesos or about $100 for the 3 nights we were there. The desk staff didn’t have much English so they put us in touch with the owners by phone and they agreed to refund the difference. THEY EVEN TOOK MYT CARD AND PROFESSED TO CREDIT THE DIFFERENCE! To date, I have not received the credit and now the hotel says the matter is settled without a refund of the difference in rooms. I have to also say that despite the location close to the lake there was no daily service to the rooms, no cleaning or fresh towels. They also say that coffee will be available at a 7:30 but it rarely showed up before 9:00. We did think that the staff was friendly and we don’t hold them responsible. I believe a comment about Expedia is also worth noting. When we booked, we were told online that there was only 1 room left. This is obviously a marketing ploy because when we arrived there was only one other guest. Expedia, we don’t appreciate this! When I complained to Expedia about the unfair charges they just passed it off to the hotel’s responsibility. SORRY EXPEDIA, BUT YOU CAN CLOSE MY ACCOUNT. WE WON’T BE USING YOU AGAIN.

The hotel is a villa converted to guest rooms on the outskirts of town. As such without a car getting to basic necessities like restaurants requires considerable walking on streets that are essentially constructed of rocks pressed into the mud and not lit at night or the very few taxis in town or the local bus. Some rooms have kitchen facilities but the ones without do not even have a bar fridge. The pool is infrequently used and therefore infrequently cleaned. Not sure if it is treated but positive it is never tested for bacterial levels. For the past two nights a loud large party has been going on in the courtyard outside my room, last night into the wee hours of the morning. There was no warning of this. (Perhaps Expedia should notify clients of conventions or events that are booked coincident with clients' bookings. If I had known I would have canceled!) A bad end to a vacation. I won't be back.
