Firefly is an unprofessional scam. It took three hours to arrive at their counter at the airport until finally sitting in a rented car. 1. You meet at the airport, but there is nothing but a small counter and personal that doesn’t speak English. At some point you will understand, that you need to wait for a transport to their store. Arrived their one hour later. 2. The processes in the store are unbelievably slow. After another 90 minutes (because three people rented a car before me and two employees dealt with them) you finally get to discuss the car. Again, no one speaks English. I ordered and paid a Jeep Patriot like car before we arrived, but once we hit the ground, they offered me a Toyota Corolla, because nothing else was available. 3. After walking myself across their parking cars, I found a Suzuki Ertiga (7 seater) and asked them why we couldn’t get this car. Only because of that, they handed me this Suzuki. 4. I ordered a GPS and a child seat. Nothing was available. 5. On top of the $200 we paid upfront for a three day rent, they charged another $300 for insurance. 6. They don’t ask, but charge you for gasoline upfront. Don’t return a full car. You have to take some risk and drive an almost empty gar to the car return, in order to get as much bang for the money as possible. No matter how expensive the alternative is, never go to Firefly if you don’t want to waste your time with this unreliable provider.

This place is a 100% scam. Their prices online vs when you arrive in person with a reservation is a bait and switch. They also fail to mention that you aren’t supposed to return the car with a full tank of gas — they instead pre auth an exorbitant fee for gas reimbursement. It’s a scam, through and through. Oh, and the manager is a pompous you-know-what. Also, when we returned the car, the guy who inspected it says it wasn’t even registered in their state. Uhhh okay ... you were the one who rented it to us, buddy. Go elsewhere.

The worst - avoid at all costs. All the other negative reviews on Google Maps turned out to be true - unfortunately, I hadn't read them before I made my booking via rentalcars.com. Sure enough, they tried to scam me out for 3x the amount listed in the reservation, and when I refused, they promised to cancel my booking - which of course they didn't. They they went on to ignore emails and calls from me and rentalcars.com, so it took me over a month and a lot of effort to finally get my money back. Why rentalcars.com lists these scammers on their website (and why Dollar and Thrifty lets these crooks run their franchise) is beyond me.

Arrived to Mexico and I start looking for this place I found it and I see lights out locked doors and a sign that says no longer there. Nothing explaining were to go or who to call. So I tried the next thing and Google there car lot. It's a 10 minute drive out the airport. I get to the GPS location and it's M.i.A nothing lot gone as well. So at this point I'm so frustrated with this company. I start asking other lots about this Firefly we're about. Nothing. Till I got to Hertz find out they own Firefly but not even Herts had a sign saying they were part of Firefly till I saw a worker with a shirt on saying Firefly. Don't bother with Firefly you will regret it badly even if the price is cheap prices change and it's you want the car or not situation. Just go to Hertz avoid there little company like this one and Dollor or whatever it's called.

What a scam! They don't give you a car if they think your rental price is too low. Liars! 15.00 Came into the office and did the paperwork to make the deposit payment 15.05 Machine for payment doesn't work 15.10 Tested my creditcard at another store and checked available funds 15.15 Suddenly, my car was not available anymore 15.20 They did have cheaper models available 15.30 Decided to go with the cheaper model 15.35 Suddenly, no cars were available and no one was returning a car today.

Firefly is Hertz by the way which is far the worst car rental in Mexico City... They charge your credit card even though there is no disponibility of a car and you have to wait for 2, 3 or even more hours for a car to come, IF it comes. Never book a car through on line promotions and discounts, they are a big lie, they overcharge your credit card without your knowledge and they charge you about car scratches that didn't come from your driving. Take your own pictures of the car and don't trust anyone in Hertz and Firefly.

Do NOT go to Firefly (Hertz) in Mexico City. They're blatant thieves. We specifically booked an SUV for our trip, and when we arrived their they said it was no longer available even though there were 4 cars of the exact same model just parked there. When we asked for alternatives, they said they only had another SUV option which was $300 more expensive. It actually started at 600$ more expensive but through negotiations (yes just like at a flea market) they dropped it to 300$. Terrible car hire company. Do not recommend it to anyone.

I would give negative starts. We rented a car (biggest category available) and pay with more than one month in advance via their page. We called their phone line and everything was okay. We received the proof of payment via email and everything was settled. 3 days prior to our arrival, we called the company and everything was settled to pick up the car. The day of our arrival, when we arrived to pick up the car, they said that they did not had any cars available. Even though online they were still available. The guy was actually handing of cars to other clients in front of us! Then they told us that in that same day, five hours later, they might have a car but it was more expensive than ours because it was bigger (we have showmen then our reservation that our was the biggest model so no possibility of that being true) They told us that we would need to pay around 5000 pesos more and a deposit of 45000. After one hour we agreed on paying a bigger deposit and the car was not available anymore. They told us that we couldn't be refunded in cash but to make a complaint via website and that the total amount would be refunded to us within 2-7 days. More than 3 weeks have passed and no money. We have called and no solution "just check the page they say" Contacted them again (one month passed) Still no refund and nothing in the page. We find a complaint in PROFECO and are waiting for a legal action. DO NOT RENT WITH THEN! They literally have stolen our money!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
