Maaike is a hands-on traveler who loves to try new flavors, visit new places and meet other people. Her passion for great food, history and culture has led her into flavor-venturous experiences in countries around the world. Maaike wants to introduce travelers to Mexican food and culture with a splash of history. Through the Flavor Teller experience she wants to build bridges and show travelers that even though everybody is different we all have similar stories. When we talk about Mexico, we always start off talking about the food tour. Cannot recommend them highly enough.

She introduced us to some great food and the absolute best tortillas!! It was awesome to get to try some things that we would have otherwise missed. We’re looking forward to taking more of her tours. I would highly recommend when visiting Mazatlan. Thank you Maaike!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We had a lovely time on the Barrio Bites tour with Maaike as our guide. The food stops were absolutely perfect in their variety and selection. We went to places and learned things through this tour that we'd never have been able to find on our own. Flavor Teller's website is super easy to use (and to book with) and the instructions for meeting Maaike at the start of the tour are clear and easy to understand. DON'T MISS THIS ONE! It was a fantastic experience and we are so glad we went.

We did the Barrio Bites tour and are eager to do the dinner tour when we vacation in Mazatlán again.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This is one of the very best excursions my husband and I have ever been on! We had never taken a food tour and didn't quite know what to expect, but this tour far exceeded all our hopes. Maaike is extremely knowledgeable about Mazatlan history and is so interesting to listen to. As far as the food goes, it was amazing! Thanks to her we were able to eat the delicious authentic food of Mazatlan rather than having to settle for the touristy stuff. She even taught us how to find authentic food places when we are out on our own. The variety of foods we ate was amazing as well. Tostadas! Refreshing drinks! Cheeses! Tamales! Tortas! We topped it off with delicious gelato. Plan on being very full and very happy.
