Restaurante Fonda de Sta. Clara abrió sus puertas por primera vez el 13 de septiembre de 1965, en la 3 poniente 307, en esta Puebla de los Angeles, lugar clásico ya para todos los poblanos.Fue fundado por la Sra. Alicia Torres de Araujo, culta y emprendedora mujer que ha dedicado gran parte de su vida a rescatar las tradiciones, los valores y las obras artísticas y culturales de nuestro país y principalmente de esta Puebla querida.Durante su gestión de 40 años (1954-1994) como Directora del Museo de Arte “José Luis Bello y González”, fue receptora de las inquietudes de todos los visitantes, nacionales y extranjeros, porque Puebla tuviera un lugar donde degustar las delicias de la cocina poblana, desde las ricas Chalupas, hasta los sofisticados platillos >especializados, pasando por los Molotes, Gorditas, Chanclas, Tayoyos, Tostadas, etc., en la comodidad, higiene y ambiente que merece el turista. Hasta ese momento estos platillos solamente se podían comer en los puestos del mercado, en puestos ambulantes y en fondas de difícil y a veces peligroso acceso para los visitantes de nuestra ciudad.

Great place to try mole. They have two dishes, enchiladas and beef medallions, where you can try three different types.

Everything was delicious. The staff was extremely kind and gave us an English menu and when we asked questions about an item, they brought it out and made us taste it before ordering. Very very highly recommended!

Really good place, delicious food, fair price, good portions. Beverages a little expensive, bring cash the stablisment does not receive cards.

Highly recommended by locals for having the best mole poblano. I got the 3 mole plate and it was so good and very filling. I also loved the rom Pope cappuccino!

La fonda de Santa Clara is a very traditional, nice restaurant. I had their mole and it was wonderful. We were a large group, and several waiters took our orders to make sure that we were taken care off in a timely manner. Their agua fresca was great as well. Very nice place that I will love to visit again. As far as I know all members of my party were happy with their food selection.

Mouthwatering mole poblano, chiles en nogada and enchiladas verdes have a good taste. Do not leave without eating good flans. Fonda de Santa Clara offers delicious tequila, craft beer or wine among its drinks. You will hardly forget great cafe de olla, horchata or lemonade that you can enjoy. The warm atmosphere of this place makes customers feel relaxed and have a nice time. The success of this spot would be impossible without the accommodating staff. Nice service is something guests like here. In accordance with the guests' opinions, prices are attractive. You will appreciate the divine decor of this restaurant.
