Located in the middle of the Colonia del Valle, Fonda Margarita is an excellent place to try out the traditional Mexican cuisine. Even though it is easy on the wallet, the servings are more than fair sized and they take credit cards, even American Express! However, its popularity makes the service a bit slow and, unless you are a morning person, there will always be a waiting line. Also, keep in mind you'll likely need to share table, as the smallest tables available are for 6. Overall, if you are up for traditional and cheap Mexican cuisine, the wait is definitely worth your while!

Super legit and authentic Mexican breakfast. We waited about 30 mins in line, brushed off our rusty high school level Spanish and ended up having one of the best meals of our trip. If you're up for an adventure, this place is absolutely worth it.

Expect lines to get in but the waiting time is pretty decent. There’s live music inside the venue. The tables are communal, usually seating around 12 people. Their menu is varied, they offer green chilaquiles, different types of eggs, and 5-6 meat or pork “guisados”. Not an option for vegans and limited for vegetarians. Loved their eggs with beans, they were super tasty. The salsa of the chilaquiles was very tasty too. They offer coffee (with sugar, so if you don’t like it order it without it in advance), fresh orange juice, and sodas. The venue is ok, kind of traditional and cozy. Service is fast, kind of friendly, but not the best. Really cheap prices.

The food was hearty, delicious, and quick. The inside was so cozy and it felt like mostly locals eating there, so that’s always nice. Delicious eggs and chicaronnes with green Chile sauce

DON’T get the chilaquiles, you can get those anywhere. Get a traditional dish instead. Ask your waiter for a recommendation, specially if you’re sensitive to spicy food. Beans are a must and a perfect dish to share.

Based on all the hype and recommendations, I was expecting superior flavors. Their dishes are ok. Nothing spectacular, but yet serviceable. With so may choices around the city, I would rather go elsewhere next time.

Came for the chilaquiles and the eggs and beans. Everything was freshly made and delicious. The live music was lovely

Really, really cool environment. Food was OK. Beans were GREAT. OJ was very sus - like it wasn’t real OJ. Tl;dr great for a trip to check it out, but probably wouldn’t go back.
