We reserved a car for $120 for the week. When we got there to pick up the car, we were told we would have to pay an additional $200 for Mexican insurance. I refused saying I am insured through my own car insurance and American Express. He said even if we paid $13,000 for the car, we would still have to pay the additional $200 for insurance. We refused and asked to be taken back to the airport. Horrible experience!! Beware!

I'm so mad at myself for not reading these reviews before being scammed. I could legit cry as i felt like i had no option and needed to get to my destination and had to rent from them, and as upset as i was, i rented a car for 2 days (current). The 2 day charge is almost the same price as what i was quote on Expedia for 26 days

Scam, forced to get an insurance that increases the overall price by 3…. Even if you have an insurance with your credit card and a letter from the insurance company they always find something to reject it. Other people were in the same situation, it was a mess. You need to cancel your booking and go to other agencies next door with standard and much better deal

Avoid at all costs! Booked through Expedia as Fox, no mentioning of the ripping insurance charges. Day rental charge a day extra! Did not have this experience with other companies before in Cancun. I should have went to another car rental as this is a real scam. Next, it was mentioned on Expedia that car is at the airport, no shuttle required. Ha, no Fox booths at the airport. After 15 min sifting through the booking and making calls I realized it is Europcar. The guy that should take us to the shuttle did not wait and disappeared in the crowd making me wondering around the airport area with a small child and all bags. Then this whole story with the extra insurance. I imagined it would take another 2 hours of shuttling around airport to find another car. So ended up paying $350 extra, they blocked $900 as deposit, never provided a receipt for this amount. What a rip-off. Then it took 15 minute to find the car as they moved it to a different location, another 10 min to check and photo-video record all damages as car was in poorest shape. Overall I spent 2 hours receiving a car instead of 15 min. Car had almost 0 gas, no one made a refund for me returning it with a third tank full and they charged me 1.54 extra for gas. Ridiculous! And I see from other reviewers now they not always return the deposit. Contacted Expedia to remove them from the booking options. I rent quite a few cars year round around the world for many years now, this is the first time I have such experience! So sad I saw these reviews after what has happened as I trusted Expedia having safe options.

Just like everyone else I didn’t see the review of the rental company on time. Do not use third party site like Expedia to book; the price you pay WILL NOT BE THE SAME. They have a lot of hidden fees and mandatory insurance. For example if you pay 200 bucks online to book a car, once you arrive they’ll charge you an additional 600 bucks for fees/insurance ( I am not joking I got a 300% up charge in fees). Not the fault of the ppl working there but the company. Try looking around different rental companies not near the airport. Take a taxi from the airport and purchase a car rental somewhere else would be way cheaper.

Worst company ever! Wishing I read the reviews before this scam. Reserved on Expedia and added the extra insurance protection for $11 a day. Got to Fox rental car at this location, waited in line for over and 1.5 hours to be told that they don’t accept Expedia's extra protection and I need to get it through them. Had to place a refund request through Expedia for my original refund for that extra protection. Fox charged me $36 usd a day for their insurance which was a surprise to me that how they can charge usd when were in Mexico and not pesos. Down deposit was originally $2,000 but he gave it to me for $250….still a scam and this place should avoided! Take videos and tons of pictures of the care before you leave as well. The return process was painless thankfully. Less than15 minutes and got a shuttle fairly quickly.

Absolutely terrible. We made a reservation online, the "system" kept going down. We have been waiting 2 hours to find out that we have to purchase either an $80/day insurance or $150/day even though both my home car insurance and my credit card will cover insurance. Such a bait and switch. Meanwhile the 3 girls out front are on their phones taking pictures of the huge crowd. What a joke.

Horrible experience! Five minutes wait took 1.5 hour at the airport for the shuttle that never came to the rental company. Called the company many times to hear a recording " Please call another time we are busy." Walked a mile away to the rental company. Had it not been prepaid would have gone elsewhere. The prepaid rental does not cover full insurance. For full insurance, the price goes up from $199 to $990. Wish I would have checked reviews before reserving. I did check the reviews once I had a horrible experience. Glad I took full pictures and videos of the car before leaving the lot as most of the time they charge for damages if you don't have clear pictures of damages to prove that car was damaged before acceptance. Total scam
