★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Después de la toma de La Habana en 1762 por los ingleses la corona española pensó que Veracruz seria el proximo objetivo, Santistevan y el ingeniero en segundo Miguel del Corral proyectan la construcción de un fuerte de cuatro lados en la punta de Antón Lizardo.
En 1783 el ingeniero militar Miguel del Corral realiza un informe sobre las baterías que se localizan en el litoral de Sotavento y explica que tiene varias ensenadas pero la de mayor abrigo es la de Antón Lizardo.
En la actualidad solo existe una parte de lo que fue la batería de Antón Lizardo. Tiene los muros realizados con el sistema constructivo de muro mixto, piedra múcara (coral marino) y ladrillo con una argamasa de cal- arena. Dentro de la ruina se reconocen dos pequeños baluartes, una escalera y un acceso posiblemente hacía el interior del edificio. Existen los vestigios de lo que posiblemente fue el acceso al almacén de pólvora, en donde se puede apreciar la construcción de bóvedas de dos roscas en ladrillo.

Inside the ruin two small bastions are recognized, a staircase and an access possibly to the interior of the building. There are the vestiges of what was possibly the access to the powder store, where you can see the construction of two-threaded vaults in brick.
