GAIAD TULUM - 77780 Tulum

We came in at 10 on a Saturday and were incredibly impressed by this humble spot. They were limited in offerings but the green cerveche and chicken tacos are among the best we've ever had. This would be Michelin starred in a chic setting in San Francisco.

Best meal we had in Tulum. Everything we tried was fresh and tasty. The Aguachile especially was exceptional. I’m not a foodie but even I could appreciate how thoughtfully the plates are prepared here - just the right amount of spice and garnish, nothing trying to be too fancy or complicated. Highly recommend.

A MUST WHEN IN TULUM! Best food we’ve had in Mexico so far! Order the Esquites with octopus as an appetizer- unlike anything we’ve had so far. Ontop of the impeccable food, the service here is amazing. We love Dorio?

Wow, unbelievably good food! This is absolutely a hidden gem, if you are tired of typical mexican food or just want to try traditional ingredients (that even locals may not have tasted before) this is the place to go! Also the mocktails turned cocktails were surprisingly good. They had an off the menu Pork Belly that was spectacular. Esquites were also a very creative take on the traditional snack. All around this may be a low-key restaurant that could easily rival high end restaurants. Congratulations to the chef for having such great taste!

Gaiad was probably the highlight of my Tulum visit. The restaurant didn't seem anything special on first sight, but immeadiately after sitting down we could see the effort and the attention to the details that the waiter had. After the food arrived we were left speechless my the quality of the presentation as well as the flavour. It was a complete cultural and culinary experience in a plate. The combination of flavours were from a proper fine dining restaurant and the dishes incorporsted classical mexican ingredients. 100% must visit for every foodie in Tulum.

Favorite meal in Tulum! Gaiad does a very clever job putting modern twists on traditional Mexican cuisines AND they are able to execute the vision perfectly- no easy feat. Every dish was thoughtful, creative, well-balanced and a clear homage to regional flavors. It was exactly what we were looking for: authentic Mexican food that was unique, bright, and of course delicious. Could not recommend highly enough! The incredibly kind and warm staff and wonderful cocktails were cherries on top.

Our hotel guide recommended this place to us. I thought it was incredible that everyone rated it 5 stars so I thought it must be really good. The place was quiet when we went (a Saturday evening), no one was there before us or after us. It looks like it is a converted garage if you look at the details closely. But they decorated and painted it really nicely. Our waitress recommended the aguachile with shrimp and pumpkin blossoms and the beef tacos. So we tried those two and the catch of the day, which was a white fish that tasted similar to salmon with a pumpkin puree. I was not really impressed with the food, I had high expectations when everyone gave it 5 stars. The food was unique, but not weird or unusual in anyway. I don't think we ordered the wrong things, we just weren't impressed. The positive was the waitress was not shy with the alcohol in our drinks (although the cocktails are not listed, they can make most of the classics.) And there is a cute swing.

For an upscale take on classic dishes I highly recommend this spot. It’s very unassuming and not usually that busy but don’t let that fool you. The food was simply outstanding! Layers of flavor presented in beautiful form. You really have to go here and try things for yourself, it’s difficult to describe how tasty it is. Highly recommend their desert as well!
