★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It took Geek Playa FIVE weeks to tell me they couldn’t fix my laptop, having told me it would be ok, and would be ready in a week. I took it to a shop in CDMX for a second opinion and they told me the same thing, but in two hours (then helpfully transferred my data to a hard drive and advised me where to find a good replacement). Two very different experiences!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A place that WILL rip you off. They tried to charge me 9500 pesos, roughly $500 US dollars, for a simple phone screen repair due to some cracks. The same repair would cost me about $200 US dollars if I go straight to the manufacturer, or about $150 US dollars if I go to a repair shop in the US. Save your money and go somewhere else..

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Such an unprofessional and unreliable phone repair service. I brought in my iPhone to get fixed due to water damage and was quoted 800 mxn to fix the phone and 700 mxn to fix Face ID. I asked to have both serviced and a few days later heard back that Face ID couldn’t be fixed.
I came to pick it up when it was ready and as I was checking my phone it shut off randomly. I paid the 800 but was still unsure everything was functioning properly. I asked them what happens if it doesn’t work and they told me there is no guarantee for water damaged phones. I opened my translator app to ask follow up questions since they don’t speak English and in the middle of the conversation my phone restarted again. The lady took my phone to one of the guys and I waited for another hour to sort things out. I was told that the phone keeps restarting because the Face ID isn’t working and that they need to fix that which is another 700.
At that point I just wanted to take the phone back and write it off as broken so I would just have to pay the 50 mxn service fee but they insisted that I had to pay the 800 even if it was IN THE EXACT SAME CONDITION THAT I BROUGHT IT IN. After 2 stressful hours I decided to let them try to fix it and they asked for my password which made me uncomfortable for obvious reasons.
I was told to come the following week and when I arrived they told me it wasn’t ready. I asked them when I can come again and they said they would message the contact number of my friend. The next day they responded that it was ready for pick up at 5pm. I get there at 5:30 and after waiting for half an hour they tell me that my phone is not here/ ready and that I’d have to wait another hour.
I was extremely frustrated for them WASTING MY TIME and telling me my phone is ready for pick up when it’s not even there!!! It takes me 20 minutes to get there so it’s not like I can just pop in anytime and see if it might be ready.
Stay away from this place—it’s not worth the hassle
