En 1884 la estatua fue devuelta a Tenancingo después de 33 años de haber estado en la Plaza de los Mártires de Toluca (frente a la sede del Poder Legislativo, hoy Palacio de Justicia)
It is an original monument of the city of Toluca, commissioned by the Governor of the State of Mexico Mariano Riva Palacio to the sculptor Joaquín Solache Monroy, with whom an agreement was signed on March 2, 1851 for the amount of eight thousand pesos.
In 1884 the statue was returned to Tenancingo after 33 years of having been in the Plaza de los Mártires de Toluca (in front of the seat of the Legislative Power, now the Palace of Justice)
