Golden Paradise Beach Holbox - 77310 Isla Holbox

If you book early you will get one of the seafront bedrooms, enjoy the view! However, the hotel itself is rather “rustic”, the arco leaked, and it was impossible to get drinking water or food. Is a 30 min walk downtown, and getting a golf car to go there can take even longer.

Very nice spot to have a perfect view of the sunset. You have musquitos nets on the door and windows that give you acces to the outdoor without beeing a buffet for the insects. Basic dorm, bed not that confortable, you have a fridge and shampoo/soap included. The service is a bit awful. There is no way to have an extra towel, or wifi, the hamacs are completely destroyed and the chilling spot is really basic surounded by ciment blocs. If you come here is for the view on the second floor, and for the silence (no party around).

Such an amazing place to visit and stay as long as you possibly can, Holbox is far from Cancun but worth all time you invest going in there, try it you can't regret believe it. Book in this hotel as for Gaby GM of this property :-).

The house is beautiful, and is right on the beach. There was just a big problem my husbands wallet was missing with $200 dollars inside. We waited to ask the front desk til we were 100% sure it was missing when we got back to the car at cancun. I called and the guy at the front desk was very rude and told me that I should of called earlier, I told him I waited to make sure it was missing and I didn’t leave it in the car and he said he asked and nobody saw it. Never did they return my calls, I kept calling them. They went and did our bed and it was weird to see they closed our luggage, never did I think they stole my husbands Wallet. Please please if you stay here do not leave anything with value, they will not be reliable, so sad a beautiful place could leave you with this bad taste.

· The location on the beach is great - the hotel lounge and beach area is behind a grungy seawall, which blocks direct access to the water. It’s on the quieter side of the island, which is fantastic, within walking distance to the main strip. The staff were friendly and the rooms cleaned each day. That being said it was WAY OVERPRICED. We paid 130 USD a night for a shabby room without a view. The roof is collapsing in the bathroom. There are no mosquito nets but plenty of bugs - we had bites every night. There was no WiFi as advertised. The taxi to the ferry cost 200 MXN, over 100 MXN over price. The beach area is behind a seawall that is eroding the beach. The chairs didn’t all have cushions. Overall, it’s great to be on the beach, but we were so disappointed by the poor value. The family in the room next to us kept us awake with children crying, the guests on the balcony of the hotel behind Golden Paradise can see right onto the balcony and into the rooms. Overall, it was loud, buggy, and a poor value.

Bed bugs! We booked 2 nights at Golden Paradise. On the 1st night, I was awoken at 2 am by what I assumed was mosquitos. It was so incredible itchy that it was hard to sleep. In the morning, I was shocked to see that the bites were concentrated and on a line (a classic tell that there is a bedbug infestation). When I pulled back the sheets the mattress was covered in dark red/rust colored splotches. This is also a sign of an infestation. Clearly, we did not want to stay another night. When we approached management about the issue they said that wouldn’t refund us (not even for our second night) because they didn’t know if they’d be able to find another person to rent the room to! If there’s an infestation, they shouldn’t be renting the room at all! They offered to change the sheets, but it was that mattress that was infested. We left first thing in the morning and forfeited our 2 night. I had to throw out my clothes because I didn’t want to contaminate my bag. Unfortunately, there was no vacancy in Holbox because it was Saturday. After searching booking/Airbnb and knocking on doors for hours, we ended up having to take the ferry to Chiquita and stay there instead. Overall, it was an absolutely terrible experience. All I can say is beware! And hopefully you don’t get the same bed I was in, because they’re still renting it out right now as I speak.

I’ll start with positive things: employees were super friendly and nice, room was cleaned every day, and the hotel is right at the beach, on the quieter side of the island. That being said, couple of reasons why I gave 2 stars. There was no wi fi whatsoever in our room, only occasionally in front of the reception and it was miserably slow, when it worked. We didn’t have warm water quite often, in fact, they closed our water supply 2 times on the last two days of our stay and I had to go and ask them to open it to be able to shower after the beach. Like why? I didn’t get it. Also, rooms are very very VERY simple. Nowhere to put our clothes except for one bench and 3 hangers. No mosquito nets. Overall, there were so many nicer places for this price, the value for the money is very low. The only reason I gave 2 stars and not one is that employees were friendly and because of the location.

We had an amazing stay at this hotel. Right at a more quiet part of the beach. The room was really cozy and everything we wanted. The service is incredible too! The lady who works here was very helpful and polite. We only stayed for 2 nights yet they offered to clean our entire room. Waking up at the beautiful beach of Holbox in a somewhat inexpensive and really cozy hotel was perfect.
