★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Wonderful food, fun atmosphere, great for large groups. Many delicious options to choose from. You can ask them to change your order if you want to take anything out. Vegetarian options are available as well as non-alcoholic drinks. I really enjoyed my experience at this restaurant at Sandos Playacar Beach Resort. Amazing food quality and taste, I loved this restaurant.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Gourmex didn’t disappoint. Marcela’s table side preparation of guacamole was outstanding - best on the resort. Alejandro, our server acted like we were his only table, gave great service and made our experience there better than imagined.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The only dine-in, non-buffet option at Sandos that is actually good. Make a reservation. Order the tableside guac. There are vegetarian options that are not on the menu, just ask.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I loved my experience here. The food was everything that you got for in Mexican food. This restaurant gives the Mexicans a place to showcase some of their famous dishes, including some not so well known regional favorites. I have to admit that I made a pig of myself.
I ordered two entrees. I got the Turkey Enmoladas. Which are three Turkey enchiladas covered in mole sauce. They were very good. Most of my family doesn't care for mole, but I like it. I describe it as the sensual Mexican sauce. It is very traditional dating back to the Aztecs and is made with chocolate.
I also ordered the beef fajitas. Dang! Those are good fajitas! If you don't know what to order and are at a total loss, go for the beef fajitas. You won't be disappointed. If anything, you will say to yourself, "I wish I had a little more, 'is it too late to order a second serving of this?'"
The servers and the chef went out of their way to give us a nice meal. In the past they had offered an appetizer called queso Fundido, which is essentially cheese melted in a cast iron skillet. When I asked the waitress about it, she said that it was something that they offered on the old menu. She said that they didn't have any of that kind of cheese on the backroom.
But a few minutes later, she came back out with the chef and he said that they found enough cheese to make three of the appetizers. He asked if that would be enough for our party of seven. I was blown away by the kind way that this was handled. What nice people!
Heck yeah! Three queso Fundido would be, Great!
Anyway, I can't recommend this place enough. Here is a photo of the Queso Fundido and one of the Molé covered enchiladas.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I was a guest at the resort, made reservations as a Royal Elite member. Found the manager Carolina to be highly unprofessional and lacking the necessary training to be in a managerial role. The staff wasn't friendly and made no eye contact. We waited over an hour to be seated. Left and came back at Carolinas request only to be ignored for another 20 min. If I could give zero stars I would have. Never got to eat there do I can't comment on the food.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Gourmex. Waiter was the best one we had on the property. In my opinion this restaurant had the best flavor. Tableside guacamole was delicious. The Elote, veggie enchiladas(not pictured), veggie tacos, and the Aztec chocolate cake were tasty.
