The Gran Plaza is located immediately upon crossing Bridge I from Eagle Pass into neighboring Piedras Negras Coahuila, México. It is a beautiful place to visit. Across Zaragoza street is the famous Cathedral known for its European ambiance. To the North is the Museo del Norte. It is filled with museum quality artifacts and well done diaramas depicting the native American inhabitants of the area. A must see for anyone visiting the area. The southside of the plaza has a sunken amphitheater where free concerts, plays, & shows are presented free. A few feet is the childrens museum called "El Chapulin". Big grasshopper on the roof. Lots of interactive exhibits similar to "Doseums" in U.S. Across the street South is the Teatro Jose Vasconselos, a 40's era movie theater converted for plays, dramas, lectures & public meetings. Nicely restored. Gran Plaza - a great place to visit. It is only Minutes away from the famous newly remodeled Zaragoza Mercado two blocks South.

The dentist and optometrists are around this same block, by the plaza. The prices are decent on the dental and cheap on the glasses. Esp if you take your own frames.

Good place for walking, clean, illuminated, if you need a parking place look for a place close to the big flag stand day or night. Avoid being alone and also avoid getting close to a guys that look suspicious.

I honestly don't remember this place we must have parked close to it and my gps picked up on it. Yes we were in MX. We were very lucky we got beautiful weather not that HOT melt in your pants temps. Everything at this time was very pleasant and the Mexican citizens more friendly they seemed less scared. Food always delicious. Bless Mexico.

Always a beautiful sight to see coming into Piedras Negras. Downtown sights are such a delight.

It's a very nice plaza if only it was kept clean. Locals don't seem to care enough to keep trash, debris, etc. from accumulating. This is really a city wide issue. Empty lots, houses, and abandoned schools are filthy with trash. Although the local radio implores the people to keep the city clean, it's like they don't care. No wonder Mexico is how it is, specially this border town. But back to this plaza. It's been updated in the last few years and has a modern look to it. It's pretty, but no longer has the charm it had. It could use more benches, more greenery, and less concrete.
