★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We spent a week in early December in building 3 and had a really nice experience. While it is true that the Jungle used to be the Bliss, and still has the overall footprint of the Bliss, they knocked down walls and completely renovated this property in 2016 to get it up to Grande Luxxe standards and they did a great job!
We stayed in a one bedroom suite which was the same size as three former Bliss rooms. King ensuite with air tub and separate shower, full granite island kitchen with two mini fridges/freezers, electric stove top and microwave, island seating for two, dining table for six, full living room with two sofa trundle beds, two 43in HD TVs, and a 2nd bathroom with shower.
There were no laundry facilities inside the unit and there was plentiful ice just down the hall. There are three balconies that span the length of all three rooms and since we faced West and we're on the top, 3rd floor, we did have good light and sunsets.
None of the hotels at the Riveria Maya location have ocean or pool views; they all have "jungle" views.
Unfortunately, due to the jungle atmosphere, humidity is at an all-time high and the hotel must constantly struggle with mold and mildew problems. As a general contractor, I know that the AC coils is where the mold spores collect and grow and must be regularly cleaned.
The mold/mildew smell is prevalent in almost every room type from Mayan Palace, Grand Bliss, and even the Grande Luxxe Jungle. We did not stay in the Grand Luxxe Residences and cannot speak to this issue. The hotel stocks a good supply of dehumidifiers and will deliver on request. I noticed that none of the bathrooms are equipped with vent fans. These would go a long way to remove excess moisture from the baths and showers.
Hotel staff are responsive and service oriented.
Our days consisted of hanging out in the posh, members only Beach Club and nights in the new (2017) Salum area which has amazing restaurants and craft beer selections.
We have been coming to Vidanta Riveria Maya for several years now and will continue to do so.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I was infuriated yet again. This time I was up and outside at 7am just before the sun came up. I asked the concierge to call a shuttle around 6:50 for building 5 and they promised it would arrive in 5 minutes. I sat 15 minutes and then started walking the roads to the lobby. Guess what was there, the shuttle just sitting there! Who wants to always build in an hour of travel time to get somewhere in the resort?! I asked why they didn’t come to building 5 and they didn’t say anything, no apologies. I made my tour bus in time but I don’t want to take any more shuttles here, it’s a minimum of 30 minutes to get anywhere! ? the previous day I had to miss my trip to Cozumel because it took a FULL hour to get from my building to the grand lobby!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It is a quiet lobby, lightly staffed. The suites are quite a ways from anywhere on the property. Since the max height of all the bldg's is 3 stories...all you will ever see from your room is: JUNGLE! In other words, there is no view from your room's patio. The pic is from the 3rd floor of a 'jungle 1' suite.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ After a long day if travel, we finally made it to what we thought was our destination, only to be held up longer for a sales pitch. Mind you it was 8 pm. We told them we wanted to just check in ,and grab something to eat since breakfast was at 7 am. Ugh, no care in the world, kept on going about a time share presentation. This is after securing your credit card for $1000, for purchases. We given an upgrade, without calling and telling us. This "upgrade" put us farther out from all resort amenities. You have to wait in the heat for a tram to pick you up to go anywhere. So we were not happy about the upgrade. We like being close to things we can walk to.
