Since I'm a HUGE chocolate fan, a Swiss chocolatier friend of mine suggested me to visit this Hacienda and I'm glad I went there !!
It's a small familial hacienda where they grow mainly criollo cacao trees for the cocoa production, CACEP.
But there are also other kind of trees like coffee arabica, vanilla, cinnamon, rubber, banana etc... Cocoa tree needs bigger trees to protect them.
So you visit the fields, then the fermentation, the roasting (with WONDERFUL brownies like smell). You can taste the fresh beens, then tge roasted ones. Then you can make your own little cocoa powder with cocoa beans, chili, cinnamon or sugar.
It was a dream came true for me to see real growing cocoa trees.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This is your place if your are looking to see the whole processing from cocoa bean to chocolate bar, their staff is great, they will explain you with no rush all about the creation of their products and happily will answer any questions you may have, beyond cocoa the Hacienda gathers almost 100 years of history.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Absolutely love this place. The tour is well worth it. They have a botanic garden with various plants and an area where with the old house and belongings of the hacienda workers. You visit the owners’s old house, it’s like a museum. Then you get the chance to create your own handmade chocolate. The best thing is that everyone who works there is super kind and attentive- it was a wonderful experience, loved it!
