Hacienda Sotuta de Peón - 97115 Mérida

Very nice guided tour in this magnificent hacienda where agave was grown in the past to extract the fiber called henequen and make strings and ropes. A very interesting 3-hour tour between the house, the agave fields and the production workshops on foot or by cart on rails. The tour ends with a magical swim in one of the hacienda's 8 cenotes and a tasting of 3 Yucatec appetizers. 815 pesos per person, a little less than 40€. Maybe a bit pricey but worth it.

Great visit to the Hacienda. Don't be put off by the 815 pesos. In return you get a great guided tour through an impressive old hacienda for sisal production including all the work steps and machines, a subsequent donkey carriage ride to the cenote where you can swim for 1 hour and a small snack. The cenote is in a cave and for me the most impressive one I saw during the Mexico tour. Crystal clear water and beautiful stalactites and stalactites. Don't forget diving goggles.

Very cool the tour. Although we did not know the cenote because we took the half tour. Information on henequen production and the entire hacienda complex have to see it.

Many people are sometimes surprised by the prices. I sincerely believe that preserving a museum-type farm like that, transporting ourselves to that time and seeing their original machines work, the daily maintenance that involves from weeding its extensive surface to employing all the beautiful people who work there and make this experience possible, I sincerely believe that. okay. It is a complete tour. It allows you to know the whole process and elaboration of products made with Henequén "El oro verde" In the same way they explain the history of the hacienda, its owners, its past, how everything worked in the time of Henequén and more. The food is VERY RICH. And to finish a BEAUTIFUL cenote where you have 30 minutes to swim. It would be better if they extended this time since I consider it to be the greatest attraction and personally, the times I have been there it has been solely for this. It would be nice to implement a 1-hour cenote pass for people who just want to go swimming in the beautiful cenote without having to pay for the WHOLE tour. NOTE: If you go with children, they may get bored at the beginning of the tour since it contains a lot of informative and cultural information. The incredible rooms, traditional of the time, with a beautiful view of the garden and a hammock on the terrace to take in the cool.

Incredible visit! The hacienda is sublime, Ivan's visit in French is very lively! We loved the demonstration of the construction of the ropes, the little truck ride and of course the swimming in the cenote! Children as parents, we were delighted! Local food at its best!
