★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Exceptional time on a historic sisal plantation!
Exceptional time on a historic sisal plantation: We spent three nights as a family of four on Hacienda Yokat and used it as a base to explore the nearby villages and Maya ruins (like Uxmal, Kabah etc. - just 30mins from the hacienda). The hacienda encompasses a 120 hectar area of gardens and Yucatec jungle. We stayed in one of the restored mansions - extremely spacios, five meter ceilings, tastefully restored and with all modern amenities (big, clean shower, A/C - which we did not need however) and a good mattress. Everything was impeccably clean. The building was surrounded basically by a tropical garden / park - with lawns, palm trees all sorts of tropical flowers and large trees where you could observe all sorts of birds and parrots. We simply enjoyed wandering the grounds and observing the tropical paradise, flowers and birds.
Breakfast and dinner were served on the porch of the historic machinery building - tastfully prepared and presented with mindful and attentive service. The food alone is worth the stay - these were the best dinners we had during our three week stay in Mexico and Yucatan.
We wished we could have stayed longer, there are more things (cenotes, old haciendas, the Puuc ruins) to explore and one could have simply enjoyed the place more. Highly recommended - a hidden gem!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This is truly a fantastic place! The hacienda has been very carefully renovated by the owner, Roberto, and you can really tell that he knows what he is doing. The rooms are just as beautiful and stylish as depicted in the photos. Roberto welcomed us in person for a brief tour while he told us the history of the hacienda and also showed us the second swimming pool, “hidden” in the jungle! He made us feel welcome and was extremely helpful when we asked for tips and advice for our future journey in Mexico. To our great surprise not only breakfast, but also a three course dinner was included in the price. Would definitely recommend this place for anyone that wishes to get away from all the hassle and noise of the city and enjoy a tranquil piece of paradise.
