We had a wonderful dinner here on our last night in Sayulita. We are from Seattle and are accustomed to great sushi; the food here was wonderful. The chef came out to greet us and explain the Omakase service, asked if there were any allergies, etc. What to expect: - starter dish (ours was a cucumber seaweed salad with local fish) - 7 piece nigiri (local fish, tuna, lobster) (the toro!!! ?) - 1 large roll to share We also ordered two Sapporo's and shared ginger ice cream. What to know: - $$$$ for Sayulita. Cash only; we paid in pesos but they had a sign for their US dollar exchange rate so we could have paid in dollars. For the meal listed above it was just over 2000 pesos before the tip. What we would expect to pay at a nice sushi restaurant in a metro area, but others may be surprised. - Reservations are required. I reserved using the chat feature in this Google listing and they responded within an hour. - Staff that we worked with spoke Spanish and English. We hope to return the next time we are in Sayulita!

One of the best sushi restaurants I have ever been to, and I have been to a lot of sushi restaurants in multiple major cities all around the world. What makes them unique is the "Omakase" style and how they incorporate local fish based on seasonality into their sushi. Get the 3 course meal that they recommend, plenty of food for 2 people. This quality of preparation would be a more expensive meal in the States. The staff was great, and we did not wait long for our food. What a surprise to find such a high caliber sushi restaurant in Sayulita!

Truly delicious and perfectly composed sushi. Delicate flavors to accentuate the fish. Make reservations!

Excellent dining experience, definitely a little more upscale for what you’d find in sayulita. Delicious super fresh sushi, great service, nice atmosphere and friendly chef who can give you a great recommendation on what to get. There’s no real menu. They recommend a 3 course menu designed by the chef but you can just ask for a few rolls or pieces of nigiri if that’s more what you’re into. Overall, lovely place!

The NOBU of Sayulita! The freshest fish and rolls: creative, unique, quality & tasty. Staff is incredible and made our night. Get the omakaze with seaweed salad, nigiri & rolls! Also to the lower reviews on here, of course it’s a bit pricier because you’re paying for quality fish. Worth every penny and then some.

Came here for omakase sushi dinner. While the food was absolutely delicious in the service was friendly, it was unbearably slow. For a place that dictates having reservations. They clearly aren't using them to time out the capacity of their chefs to be able to create and staff to serve. 55 minutes before the first sushi hit the table. I even joked with the staff that I wanted to walk across the street to the hot dog stand that I could see visibly from my table. My advice would definitely be don't come here hungry. But the food is delicious.

This place has to be one of the best sushi restaurants I’ve eaten at. Being an LA native, where the sushi is really fresh, Henshin is at the top of my list. The menu is omakase style, where the chef prepares a menu based on locally caught fish as well as some specialty fish that are imported. We had 9 pieces of nigiri each and 2 cut rolls for 3 people which was perfect. Jerome was a great host and made us desperately want to come back to Sayulita. This place is a gem.

This place is so good!!! Just opened on 12/29/2021. We’re the first ones here for dinner so we got to chat with the chef. You can tell his passion in creating sushi and satisfying his customers appetites in the way he talks about his upbringing and experience with food and what eventually led him here to make sushi omakase style in Sayulita. Must-eat restaurant if you’re in town. There are some ingredients that’s hard to get in sayulita especially with Covid (ie good quality tea, miso, etc) so it’s not a traditional Japanese restaurant. But defining one that is worthy still with the high quality fish and the art in creating food.
