Terrible experience! These guys will rip you off!

They are all the same hertz, thrifty, dollar and all in the airport The worst services ever, they don’t have cars they don’t respect anything, also I call them because I supposed to arrive late, they said isn’t not problem, I arrived and they said isn’t cars available!!! Why didn’t say it when I called ??? This just happen in Mexico!!!, then I leaved the airport and see the thrifty’s parking with clean cars !!!

Beware of these scam artists. Prepare for a hard phone sell on bogus extra insurance and fast pick up privileges before you arrive. Claimed they could not process billing changes directly when reserved child seat was not available. Said to call Hertz for refund. Hertz says they are a nonaffiliated franchise and did nothing. Rental takes just a long as normal. Friend rented identical car for 20% on Priceline.

I booked online for a rental for a week and half out of Ixtapa / Zihuatanejo and was quoted $128 CAD. When we arrived a the airport the Hertz agent told me: I had to accept the liability insurance as my credit card coverage was not valid in Mexico (I did confirm with my credit card insurance it did cover the insurance before traveling and booking the reservation) $16 per day There was an additional credit card fee of 4.5% There was an airport fee of 19% Vehicle Licence Fee of 6% Vehicle Service charge of $1 per day IVA tax of 16% My rental turned from $15 per day to $45 per day. We were stuck at the airport and had to take these extra costs or risk loosing transportation to our scheduled vacation hotels and adventures. I contacted Hertz when I returned to Canada and they said that is common practice and they could do nothing about that. Hertz is taking advantage of tourists at this airport location. I did have another rental from Hertz in Can Cun a week and half later from the airport and none of the extra fees were charged Please don't support this business as their business practice is not very ethical

Do not rent!! Fraudulent charges! Rented a car. No major issues with the car except from scratches that were all recorded. I also took photos for reassurance. When I returned the car they wanted to charge me for scratches on the rim and scratches at the tire. I of course complained and showed them photos of the rim being previously scratched, and still they wanted to charge me to fully replace the tire for scratches. I explained to them that as long as you drive there will be normal tire wear. They basically ignored me and added a charge for a replacement tire on my final bill which was totally unrealistic. I refused to sign the credit card. Called My credit card company to dispute these charges. Definitely not a great way to end my vacation! Just don’t go for it, there are no great places to drive around anyway. Taxi works as long as you negotiate prices before hand.

VIDEO RECORD YOUR CAR. Especially the under carriage. They WILL try to peg previous damage on you if you cannot prove it was there upon check out. They did it to me. They'll do it to you. With all the speed bumps and pot holes they're all damaged already but will try to shake some more out of you. Check that every works too. We drove off and had to come back since the stereo wouldn't turn on. Other than that, the car was otherwise clean and in sounds working condition.

Terrible experience, I prepaid my reservation to male sure the car will be ready, surprise when I arrived, they have no cars available, I wasn’t notified, nothing, and they said you need to call to process your reimbursement… what?!? They ruined the 1st day of our vacations.

Made reservation online through the Hertz website for a one week car rental for vacation. When we picked up the car the actual cost was $400 (US$) more than the reservation price. Almost double the quoted price! The agent said that the extra insurance and fees were required. The original quote said that taxes and fees were included and our car insurance covers car rentals. If the quote had been accurate we would have arranged for a ride to our destination and skipped the car rental. Instead we paid a lot of money for a car we barely used.
