Pros: no issues with the car itself. It was clean and fine for what we needed it for on our trip Cons: they FORCE you to get insurance. Even though I had coverage booking through my Amex card. The insurance cost more than the car rental. If you don’t take insurance, you have to leave a $3000 cash deposit which is ABSOLUTELY OUTRAGEOUS. On top of the cost of the car….the cost of the insurance….you also have to leave another deposit which I still have no gotten back yet. Almost a month later, no one has contacted me back despite my efforts AND I still haven’t gotten my refund! DO NOT USE THEM!!!!!

Muy mal servicio. Tardan 60 minutos en entregar el coche. Huele feo y esta chocado. Terrible experiencia. Horrible service. They took 60 minutes to get the paper work ready to bring the car. The car smelled really bad and it seemed to be hit several times.

Read everything very carefully. They add things without your permission. Everything they say that’s included is not. Example: the sales manager came over and said they were putting a cooler bag in the trunk. I shrugged because who cares. Turns out later they charged me $12 per day to ‘rent’ the cooler bag. I never once touched it. Never once was I told there was a cost. I just thought it was a random amenity since they had them hanging all over the place in the office.

Tourists beware! Hertz in Mexico will force you to buy additional insurance that costs more than the car rental itself. My compact car cost over $100 per day! Later I found out that this insurance WAS NOT REQUIRED. I made a formal complaint with Hertz in the US about the business tactics I experienced and they refused to refund these additional fees. They said these franchises in Mexico use Hertz's name but they do not abide by the same rules. Please, please avoid Hertz in Mexico! Their agents will overcharge you and Hertz in the US won't do anything to help. On top of this I paid for a full-size car and received a compact car that was five years old. I've traveled to Cancun many times and never had problems renting a car. This was the worst and most expensive rental experience of my life! I will NEVER USE HERTZ AGAIN!

Be careful tourists, this company is a scam. I reserved a car for $336 using my credit card. When I arrive in Cancun to pick up the car they said I must get insurance which cost me an additional $462. I told them I had insurance but they said this was the law. They stole my money that they did not earn. Tourists please be careful, these people are hiding under the brand name of Hertz but there motive is to take advantage of you. Do not rent a car from Hertz at Cancun International Airport.

Go with any other car rental place, please! My fiance and I went to Mexico January 2022 and used this company. I had already paid for the booking with my credit card points. The agents told us only 1 person per party can go up to the counter to fill out paperwork, and they said just my fiance (who doesn't understand that much Spanish whereas I'm fluent). So long story short, they charged us an additional $530 to rent a car for 1 week *after* we returned the car. When I called Hertz in the US, they said they weren't fully associated with Hertz in Mexico.. why even have their name then if US reps can't help me? I do NOT recommend this company whatsoever. Please read every fine print and know what each initial is or you will pay WAY more than expected. and yes, they do have a few thousand dollar hold on your card when you decline their insurance.. but don't worry-- you will get charged either way apparently! Btw- they let an entire family go up to the counter right after they told us "just 1 member." We disputed this with our bank, who showed us receipts from Hertz and declined to reimburse us.

Everyone please be careful! And avoid this place. We rented a car directly from hertz and had a price in Hand. After reading the reviews (and being a fluent Spanish speaker) I thought “no problem “ there is no way they can pull a scam on me. But this people did !!!!! It costed me a day of vacations and aggravations. This is the person at the counter that scammed us. I sent out a letter and dealing with the agencies. If you go to Cancun just avoid renting a car. Save yourself a headache!

We were quoted a low amount then waited 3 hours for our car. The guy was taking pics and told us not to because he’ll email us but we did anyway. We returned the car clean with a full tank and only got 1 penny back from our deposit. No emails, no explanation, no way to get through to anyone. This place is an absolute scam. I regret being so naive and not checking the reviews. You can see the car came with many dents and scrapes that we are probably getting charged for. But who knows because they won’t communicate, they just take your money
