Watch my friend get assaulted by the staff here for filming at his lawyers request. They refused him the receipts. The manager of hertz refused to provide the documents where they were charging him. They told him if he didn't sign the papers, they would call the car stolen. But if he signed the papers they'd steal a bunch of my money. (16.000 PESO on held for potential extra days) He refused to sign, he started filming, my friend got the manager on camera saying he was refusing me the receipts and when he saw my friend was filming he tried to get the phone out of my friends hand, assaulted him and chased us outside. The staff called the police and claimed my friend stole the car.

This particular Hertz is run by a scam artist, they will rent you the car then charge your card exorbitant amounts of money, they then state if you don't sign the bill and take responsibility for the charges they'll report the car stolen, even if you have already returned the car to them. He has friends in the local police, if you don't want to end up scammed out of $10,000 or so U.S. or end up in a Mexican jail, rent a car from just about anywhere else.

SCAM! They charged my card way more than the hold and ended up coming after me for 103,000 pesos for keeping the car 2 days extra which they told me originally would be okay. When my lawyer came with me to Hertz to talk with them, they agreed to send the money back. I gave them the car. As soon as my lawyer left, they told me they were only giving half of the money back. They told me if I didn't sign the paper, they'd call the car STOLEN! The lawyer told me on the phone to get receipts and not sign anything. They refused to show me 2 of the receipts where they took my money. So I started filming. The manager assaulted me for filming and tried to take my phone from my hand. I walked out the door and he chased me while calling the police. They claim I stole the car even though they are in possession of it. Total insanity! Having to deal with the issue legally as they want to charge me 3500 Canadian dollars every day I don't sign the papers signing off on them stealing from me! I've lived in Mexico for 2 years and have never come across a scam as crazy as this!

Awful place! Stay away!!! Big scammers. Will charge you for whatever they want and think is an upgrade for you. Big thieves. Returned the car almost full gas tank and yet charge me $50 for a full tank with the excuse that I have chosen this option. Up charging on the type of car because the one I have reserved “are not available” and bump you to 6 levels more where you end up paying $120 a day after the insurance scam and the agents commission of course. Terrible! Almost punch in the face the “manager” whose repeatedly told me “the system don’t allowed me”. Anyway, long story short stay away from hertz! Too bad I didn’t read reviews Prior yo my trip.

I'm giving one star as well because negative stars are not an option. I booked on my Expedia account and my conformation clearly says "confirmed" and that further conformation is not necessary. the rental was for one week starting Dec 12, 2021 at $139CDN, very cheap when combined with the air and hotel I booked with Expedia. I called the rental company's local office on the day of the rental to ask if I could come a little early, maybe an hour or so, after a long hold, I was told no, the car would not be ready till the stated time of 10:30 am. So, we took a taxi there with friends to get the car and had a full day planned. In arrival, I was told they didn't have my car, but had an upgraded car for an EXTRA $800US + mandatory insurance. I'm not sure about the mandatory insurance, I believe it is required to be included by law in the rental price and some insurance is included on the standard contract under the Expedia booking. I had the details of my worldwide coverage with me, but they would not accept that. I asked when the car I booked would be ready and was told "maybe by 6:00pm" as they had no cars other than the one for $800 extra. I proceeded to debate the issue and out of frustration started calling Hertz corporate offices. The price started coming down, cars that were not available minutes ago started becoming available. I do feel that they know you are on holiday, need the car as your holiday depends on it and try to extort money from you. I reminded them my reservation says it is confirmed and I called just before heading over etc... they maintained for a long time that there was nothing they could do. While I was on hold with Hertz and told the agent we did not have to debate it any longer...It took over an hour with this banter as we all waited in frustration...not what anyone want during a holiday, but also, no wants to be extorted for 9 times the agreed and confirmed price. Finally, they gave me car but I had to pay about $120US extra for insurance. Interestingly, I was told the car just came in, but on going down to get it, it was ready, waiting, just washed...that didn't just happen and there were other cars there too. I cannot even begin to tell you how unpleasant, unprofessional and indeed disturbing the whole process was. I have NEVER been treated to badly as a customer and I would call it a scam and extortionist in practice. Expedia was very helpful and I have filed a complaint on returning to Canada and I hope this helps others.

By far the worst rental car experience of my life. We were charged much more the the rate advertised on Hotwire and the “insurance” charge made my total 3x more than what I found online. $360 USD for a 2 day rental, MORE than I paid for an entire week rental with a different agency in the area the week before. On top of that, the agents tried to charge us an extra $1000 pesos to clean out a little dog hair that was in the car for “extra work” they would need to do. The manager tried to negotiate with us when we argued, and lowered it to $500 pesos, as if it was some kind of deal that we had to negotiate. There was nothing about dog hair in the contract, and when we pointed that out, the agent pointed to a different section about smoking in the car, claiming that it also applied to dog hair. Anyway, we didn’t want to pay this absurd fee so We took the car and cleaned it with OUR HANDS and it took 10 minutes. We read terrible reviews online but decided to risk it since it was only a 2 day rental. It was way overpriced, a horrible experience, and honestly the whole company seems like a giant scam. Knowing the reviews, we were cautious on everything: we brought the far back a day early, full tank of gas, got the 100% insurance coverage, and they still tried to rip off a client like us. Hertz should be ashamed to be associated with this company, and they should also be investigated for fraud, based on our experience and others I’ve read. I will never be renting from Hertz again.

I'm giving them 1 star because I have to. If I could give them zero I would. Firstly, they said they had no car for us when we showed up at 11 to pick up our rental. They said come back probably at one and they didn't even provide us with a ride back to our place. Then they said come back at 3 but we will call you when a car is available. There was no call, so we took another cab back. When we got there they said there was not car available except for something that was $75cdn a day which was triple what our reservation was quoted at. So after waiting for 2 hours they finally find us a car. Then they could jot deliver the car as it was returned damaged. Then they said they could only rent to us for 30 days when the reservation was for 48 days. Long and short we got a 4 passenger 1 bag car instead of a 5 passenger 3 luggage car for 30 days for more $100 more for only 30 days. Scores of people came and left and gave up. We spent 6 hours trying to rent from them. Never again. It definitely Hertz.

Competitive prices with their competitors. Only issue is that economy cars are usually not available if you do make reservations in advance. So if you want a specific car type it's highly recommend to reserve a car online. Other than that they deliver their cars completely clean and full of gas.
