★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Avoid this Hertz location. On 12/25/2020 I rented a car at the Puerto Escondido location. They overcharged me by more than 20%. When I asked them to honor the reservation I was told to take a walk. They knew that there was no other car available at the airport and I had a choice, ruin my vacation or accept being overcharged. I have not seen anything like that before. They asked $85 a day for insurance. I had my own. Hertz seems to have turned into a ripoff company.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Avoid. Same story as others, booked way in advance, paid upfront total cost. Arrived only to be told that there are no cars available (at all). They said I could get a refund. I said I needed a car. They apologised but when I asked why they couldn't have phoned to let me know, they didn't have any answer. Luckily Europcar did have a suitable car available. Save yourself the trouble and go straight there instead.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Do not use Hertz/Thrifty here!!! My flights were delayed, they didn't try to contact me and gave my car away. When I arrived they didn't even try to help.
Told me to come back the following morning as they would have cars, which I did, only to find out they had none...
Europcar across the parking lot is far more professional, albeit more expensive too. They were able to help me thankfully. Your other option is renting from a local shop in town.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ DO NOT USE!!! We hired an SUV online with Expedia. They don't even have SUVs apparently. In fact, they didn't even have any cars. We definitely did not see that coming but apparently it's quite common! Insane.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Watch out of this Hertz location, we returned our rental car there and had to pay over 1500 Mexican Pesos for a missing wheel cover (which fell off somewhere along the way). A cheek! The employee was very friendly but not willing to accommodate in any way. I strongly suspect that I and my friends will never rent a car from there again.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I had a reservation and paid a part of the rental fee already. Once I arrived at the airport Puerto Escondido I only got to know that they don't have any car for me. They said that maybe another car will come in tomorrow. I cancelled the contract and went to Europcar which worked out

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ An hour and a half to return a car is too much. Especially when there are 2 people behind the desk with only one person assisting and a line up of 6 different groups waiting to return and each interaction taking 15+ minutes.
I wouldn't be surprised if they tried to charge you for an extra day because you had to wait past your return time in the line to give your car back.
