WORST EXPERIENCE EVER! Hertz is corrupt in Cancùn, if I could make it no star, I would. Made a booking for a car at 8 AM. Car was not there, actually NO CAR was available in the WHOLE city of Cancun despite what was announced on the booking site. The manager told me to wait 30 mins for the car to come from the airport, then the same thing 30 mins later, then again... The car arrived after 3h (!!!!) and it was not the car category I booked (B category, automatic) but a cheaper car with manual transmission. And yet... when given the contract to sign, the manager "forgot" to tell me she was still charging me for the higher car category. I kindly asked her to change it to the car category I would actually be driving but she told me (to her astonishement) it would actually cost me more if she did the change. Seriously? :) Be prepared to authorize $4000 USD on your credit card if you don't need their ultra expensive insurance package, it's a tricky way to force you into buying their insurance package. If you tell them you're insured through your credit car, they tell you you must take the Credit Card Care package or something for providing documents to your credit card company if you were to fill an insurance claim... On the last day, since I would have returned the car before 6 PM, I made the case that a 5 hours rental (it was already 11 AM due to the delay) on the last day should be considered only as half a day of rental and therefore remove 0.5 days from the contract. "Nope, sorry" she said. She told me to call the phone number on the contract to make a request/complaint. Phone number which is currently disconnected... When reaching "customer care" by mail to be reimbursed of the price difference between the car categories and for the shorter rental duration, they extracted the contract I signed and told me: "Well... that's what you signed! Sorry, here's a voucher for a one-day rental in Mexico. ;)" Ahah, great customer care, thank you Hertz, but never again, in Mexico or any country.

They were very nice I had to trade my car in because it was making noise in the front end and they gave me no problem they were very Cooperative spoke pretty good English and I really think that they helped me out as best they could with what they had gave me a better car and I thank them for their good job I appreciate their professionalism and how clean the car was

They bait you with good prices an when you are there they don't have the car and you are supposed to pay 25 times more then you reservated! Really! Total rip off!!!

If you find yourself in downtown Cancun in need of a rental car, the little Hertz car rental office a few blocks from the bus station and Selina Hostel can fix you up! We don't speak Spanish well, and the clerk knew no English, but she used a translator app on her phone, and we were out the door in no time. Rented a mid‐sized SUV for 9 days. $630. Two couples shared the expense, and it was comparable to what it would have cost for bus and taxi fares to get to Xcalak, a remote fishing village 5.5 hours south of Cancun.

Scam. Booked online for two days. Reservation totaled $45 and said it included insurance, taxes, service fees, etc. but when I arrived I was told that those charges were in addition to a $45 base rate. Had no time to find another option and ended up spending $134 for two days with a compact car. Do not book with these crooks.

The worst car rental experience I've had. The initial price quoted to me for 6 days was around ~ USD 565, which was slightly high in the first place. When we go there, the front desk quotes me a price of ~ $1400 for 6 days in the same reservation, saying insurance is mandatory. My credit card already provides insurance coverage for rental vehicles but the Hertz guy was not ready to accept it. Upon saying that we're walking away and will look for other rentals, he immediately comes back to us and gives us a rate of $650 for 6 days. Such a scam. I didn't expect it from a reputable company like Hertz, especially when my credit card gives me a Gold Rewards membership with them. Terrible.

We booked a car for 12:00 online, took taxi out to their location, when we arrived they didn’t have any cars available for us! How was I able to reserve a car when they didnt have cars available at that time I don’t know and he just stood there in silence. I asked if perhaps other Hertz locations in Cancun had cars available now, he said we had booked at their location and could not help us with that. When I asked if there are any other car rentals around he shook his head no. The service was extremely poor, not only didn’t they have any cars for us even though we reserved one for 12:00 and it was supposed to be ready for pick up, they didnt even try to help us to another location. We found another car rental 5 mins walking distance that was able to help.
