HôN - 97000 Mérida

Tried this place recently. The place has potential and overall, not bad. Pork shu mai were ok but the bahn mi lacked coriander, which would have helped a lot. The ramen was way too salty and the broth would benefit if it had a more milky texture. Music was also way too loud for conversation, but they turned it down when asked. After some small improvements, I would return.

Drinks are good but the food, especially the pho, is lacking. The pho broth is lukewarm, not clear like it should be and doesn’t have actual authentic flavors, and the noodles were undercooked. The meat was extremely chewy (again, due to the broth being lukewarm). Definitely doesn’t qualify as authentic or good Vietnamese food.

As a world traveler, it is always a treat to find Asian food where you don't expect it. While they are certainly trying to execute a Vietnamese menu, they need to reexamine what is acceptable for this goal. For example, is it fair to serve a dish called Lemongrass Chicken when it literally does not contain a single piece of lemongrass? The food is passable as generic Asian at best. I would rate it a 4, but going with a 3 to help bring down their average score. The food is not bad; the portions are generous. The service is a bit spotty. My issue is that you need to have all the appropriate ingredients to keep items on the menu - otherwise, what's the point?

It was a bit confusing. They have a full menu on their website, so we made a reservation and arrived. They told us it was a music show @7:00 on a Saturday night, Ok. Then charged a 50 peso cover each to enter, for the dinner reservation we made. Then we sat down, there was a DJ playing, fine. Waited about 15 minutes for a waiter to notice us (there were only 3 other tables) then he told us that they had only 4 or 5 appetizers. Ok. So we ordered 3 of the 4 options, they came out about 30 minutes later and were ok. Not bad, but nothing exciting. It was just weird, I am totally cool with bars that charge cover and only serve snacks, but I am not a fan of surprise cover charge for restaurant reservations, then no menu available. Fine for drinks, nice patio, but not if you are looking for a restaurant.

One of the best places in Merida. Good drinks, perfect music, and excellent service.

Interesting place with more of a bar vibe. I didn't have the best experience because the waiter dropped some of my food on the way to the table and the food was a bit cold. They did give me a small discount after. The bathrooms are nice hopefully they can improve.

I highly recommend this place as a bar. It has live jazz on Wednesday nights on the patio. Excellent drinks! Sophisticated vibe.

Nice atmosphere with American music serving Asian - inspired food mostly Vietnamese food. Delicious bars and Korean wings. Large outdoor seating area. Lots of drinks to choose from. Tito is great, spoke English. We'll be back.
