Worthless employees

I rented a motorcycle from Honda San Miguel and had a great experience. I rented a Honda CRF 230cc off-road bike for 3 hours. The bike was in excellent condition, pulled strong through all gears and the breaks were fresh. If you pay cash, it is 907 pesos for 3 hours (about $50 USD at the time). It was a dirt bike, but was fine for freeway cruising, as well. And the police here do not care if you take a dirt bike on the regular roads. Honda actually uses a separate company for their rentals, Discovery Guanajuato, which is located in the Central area, Calle Jesus No. 4. Call ahead to make arrangements, because all they do is pick you up from the Honda dealership and take you over to Jesus No. 4 to complete the paperwork and get the motorcycle. Plenty of fun riding around San Miguel, too. I had a blast, and highly recommend if you are an experienced rider (but NOT a place to learn how to ride a motorcycle!).

Horrible service, absolutely appalling. The manager is very arrogant and unfriendly. I thought it would be more convenient to buy a moto in SMA, so I tried to ignore it. When the moto finally arrived (5 weeks later), I went to pay the balance and had to stand outside practically next to the sidewalk to pay in cash. I said I didn’t feel comfortable dealing with the cash in public and asked to do it inside. Prohibited, sneered the manager. After paying, I began to arrange for the delivery to my house. The manager said I had to sign a paper saying the moto was completely fine. I said I’d do at the house when they delivered. After all, I couldn’t know what might happen while in transit in their truck. You have to sign now, he said. If not, we’ll call the whole thing off. He was probably bluffing, used to pushing people around and pressuring them. But I said okay, let’s call it off. Give me back my money and I’ll get out of here. Oh, we don’t have it any more, he said. I just gave it to you, I replied. What a lying snarky guy. They jerked me around for about an hour claiming they didn’t have the money and couldn’t get it while I tried to stay calm and simply insisted I wasn’t going anywhere until I received my money. Lie after lie after lie from multiple people. Finally, after more BS and more lies and different answers to the same questions from different people, I received the cash I had just given them. I proceeded to Irapuato where the experience was 100% better. Despite the wasted time, I felt excellent that this horrible business in San Miguel didn’t get any of my money. Stay away from this place. They don’t care about the clients. I think they’re just used to jerking people around, people who might not know it’s not normal, or don’t have enough Spanish skills to push back. There’s lots of fine, fine businesses in Mexico. This is not one of them. Stay away.
