This place was the worst experience in my life staying in hotels. IT IS NOT SAFE There was no lock on the cabin door and no key given. The main entrance was always open so anyone could come in and steal or assault you. The owner was away until midnight Friday night, so do not believe it is staffed 24 hours a day. It isn't. The hotel electric fused and I had to find the reset switch myself during a huge thunderstorm because the owner had left. No apology the next day, in fact he complained a guest arrived late andx didn't have enough cash to pay for the room so sent him to get cash at 1am! My advice is pay with credit card before you go if you stay and then you can dispute afterwards. I paid cash but there was no receipt or bill given when we checked out. Do not bring children here. There are high balconies with no barriers. The whole place is a cobbled together wooden structure with incompetent electrics which are a fire hazard. If you are on the higher floors and a fire starts, there is no fire escape and I didn't see a single fire extinguisher or EXIT sign. The shower didn't have any hot water for 2 days and had bare copper wires showing. The owner claimed that was not a problem as the wires are above the shower head, in fact he had an excuse for all the problems and not once apologized or took any responsibility. "Continental breakfast" is grim coffee and cold toast with jelly. I presume the continent is antarctica! The owner has no idea how to run a hotel safely and professionally. I have stayed in plenty of basic and "hippy" style hotels but this place is honestly a death trap run by someone with a complete lack of understanding about the hotel business. Go for a massage or yoga class but don't stay until the place is made safe. Certainly do NOT take kids there.

The place is so original and cool with the idea of ecological and those wooden castle. but some how the vibes over there is s bit strange something about the volunteer s and the owner.... The place is very expensive overpriced that for sure. Such a shame because it has great potential.... Worth visiting not for staying

Very unique hostel hotel combination. Open air bedrooms and tree houses are the norm here. Really enjoyed the stay even though it's 3 km away from the downtown. They have free bikes for you to ride and a vegan restaurant in the downstairs on the street front. I stayed in the female dorms as a guy and had no issues. 200 pesos a night and they have parking for motorcycles and cars. I think they charge for the parking for cars however.the one thing I really did not love was pooping in a bucket and putting wood chips on it. I get the concept of reducing and reusing. That was almost like camping for me hahaha also the shower never got warm... Sooooo if you like terrible bathroom experiences you'll love this place. With that said it's still a very cool and unique place to spend a day or two.

The clamping rooms are not really worth the price. The place is not very clean. Polyester bedsheets in an eco place ??? It was not nice to sleep there at all. The temazcal is an improvised hole with wool blankets on top and 1500 pesos (?!!!) its an unacceptable price for what we got. I wouldn’t come back here for a relaxing peaceful and magical night that I wanted to have. El lugar no vale la pena por el precio !!! Mucho que mejorar.

5 stars for the place itself and the kindness of the staff. It’s truly worth to get there once. I also have the impression they’re constantly improving. Visitors twice in 2 months and the Ceremony space was already upgraded from a small to a larger tent. BUT: Food: In House Food is rather expensive and doesn’t have the best quality of taste. The eggs are awesome. Wouldn’t recommend the burger. 5-15 minutes away from that you’ll find good restaurants. Wi-Fi: only good enough to write messages. Maybe listen to audio podcasts Sleep: Great beds, but mosquitoes and a super loud street next to the place. Dogs are barking louder than my loudest alarm. Should you go? Definitely for 1-3 days if you’re already in Tepoztlán and if you can take the above with a grain of salt.

Horrible experience - booked a private room and I ended up getting a matress on the terasse on the roof : no door, no walls, only old curtains - during the night : TONS of mosquitos and no mosquito net... impossible to sleep. I've been bitten all night long. - in the morning : no one at the reception to give me back my deposit... My motorcycle was in the back yard, no one to open the door. Finally the guy in charge of the maintenance managed to open at noon (still no one at the reception desk) ! Same feedback from the few customers in the hostel that night : DONT BOOK THERE !

The most beautiful building, probably the most unique place I stayed at in México, however the staff here are not what you would expect for such a hippy looking place. They imposed so many rules on us (can't bring any outdoor food in, can't light incense in rooms, have to give your room key to staff when you go out, can't have other guests in your room at any time, even if they are also staying at Horus...) and they fined our friends 200 pesos for bringing in some fruit and vegetables! They said we could store 3 bags there for 100 pesos a day, which we thought was fairly reasonable, then in the morning as we were leaving to go to a festival they told us it would be 100 pesos per bag per day, meaning we would pay 900 pesos over the weekend!! Absolutely extortionate and so unprofessional to tell us this just as we were leaving, it caused a lot of stress for our morning. The mattress was very comfortable and the room was gorgeous but I don't understand why the sheets were polyester, in an eco resort. Overall the atmosphere here left us feeling bitter, and we couldn't enjoy the stay very much.
