If I could give fewer stars I would, poor service from the doctor, I called to see if they had an emergency ultrasound and they told me yes and I arrived I asked the receptionist and if it did, we went to the doctor and he told us no, no I didn't even tell him why it's an emergency, not if you want tomorrow I'll schedule you, it's supposed to be an emergency hospital!

I happened to be the first surgery ever at this hospital. If you do not have insurance, I would never recommend using this hospital. I had an excellent doctor from Guadalajara and he thought it best to have the surgery at this new hospital and told me the cost would be about $1500 dollars U.S. I was weighing the idea to go to the U.S. as I have insurance there and it would only be the cost of an airline ticket. I made the wrong decision. After a successful surgery I was astounded when I got the bill of $4700 for a 6 hour stay there. The Doctor was also surprised and embarrassed and on my behalf he went to the Manager of the hospital to try and correct the overcharging without any success. In fact, since he had made this complaint, he lost his right to do surgery there. The manager's response to him was "These Gringos have a lot of money and he would not reduce the charges. I later found out that in Guadalajara the cost of this procedure would have been 1/3 the cost of what they charged me there. In fact, the follow up procedure of removing the stent in my Kidney was a total of $250 in Guadalajara....WARNING!!! Unless you are one of those Rich Gringos that the manager stated "They don't care about the money or if you have insurance...Do not use this facility. Be smart and look to Guadalajara.

Employees are told to charge cash not credit cards, if they don´t charge cash they won´t make more money.

The hospital lacks good service that is why a rip off. If they want to charge a lot they need to excel in their service.

One morning, my father was ill and unconscious. We called an ambulance, and the Cruz Roja ambulance said that we had only two options of hospitals to take him to. One option was San Antonio, and the other was RMC. However, we wanted to take him to Guadalajara. On the surface, this hospital looks excellent. However, it became apparent that they were not equipped to help my dad. Only one doctor was available, and few nurses. In the afternoon, after hours of seeing that my dad was not improving. We asked them to please transfer him to Guadalajara to another hospital that could provide more services for my dad. They said yes; however, we began to notice that they were only worried about charging, there was no urgency to transfer my dad, and the bills kept climbing. We thought the ambulance would be there shortly and tried to pay all the charges, and they kept coming. At one point, it seemed comical to them, "Oh my, here is one more." The ambulance that showed up was given to another patient that had no means to pay nor family to assume the cost. They gave the ambulance to that person and said that my dad would get another one. Even though my dad was already on a ventilator. This is because they told us, that to transfer him; he would have to be put on a ventilator, although my dad was not having breathing issues. They assured us this was how it had to be done. Later we found out that we had the right to deny the ventilator. (Also, to intubate him, they had to call in a doctor, she came and did it quickly, charged, and left). The ambulance for my dad finally showed up at midnight. We were told that a doctor had to travel with my dad in the ambulance, but since this hospital only had one doctor, to begin with, his doctor could not care for my father. We luckily have a doctor in the family that rushed to help us. The ambulance was also a complete failure. The ventilator battery was not working, among many other things (separate review for ambulancias Michel). The hospital and the ambulance had a lot of back and forth about whose fault was about the ambulance. After talking to a different doctor in San Antonio a few days later, he assured us that there is no ambulance on the Ribera that could take someone on a ventilator. They all have to come from Guadalajara. So, our frustration with this hospital is why they told us to put my dad on a ventilator? Why did they not tell us that the ambulances in the Ribera are not equipped? Why did they keep my dad if they knew they had done all they could? Why didn't they get a doctor to go in the ambulance with my dad, since that is the law? They have many hour to prepare. After telling my dad's experience to other locals, they were not surprised. I heard a lot of stories of people taken here only to be used as a money pit. My dad was Mexican, but we told the hospital he had American insurance. This hospital is not about care, and it's just there to make money. I don't write reviews, and my family and I respect anyone in the medical field. They deserve to be compensated. What happened to us was not normal, I had previously taken my dad to other emergency rooms, and I have never witnessed the lack of urgency and care that I saw at this hospital. I think it is important to tell our story, and hopefully, another family doesn't have to go thru the pain and trauma my family went thru. I tried asking for a copy of my father's medical file, and the doctor told me that I would have to have an attorney request that. There are many great doctors, hospitals, and clinics in Mexico. Do your research if possible. We learned this, unfortunately, during an emergency. Don’t come here without your insurance card or a large wallet.

Hospital San Antonio advertise they don’t over bill ha ha!, That is exactly what they do. They don’t even mention this company because nobody knows if it is legal in MX.

The San Antonio hospital has a way to charge with cards, but they tell their employees not to use them so that the doctors can receive cash. An employee there told me that they pay them a commission if they charge cash. Doctors like González Urzua have a terminal in their office and of course prefer that you pay cash. Even the doctors tell him that they will earn more money if they collect in cash.

What a horrible service, I had an appointment with a general surgeon then I show up, the lady at the front desk was more interesting in her coffee and donuts then answer any questions, the staff sent me next door, next door sent me to next door, next door sent us to a hospital in Ajijic, then the staff at Ajijic's hospital called the doctor , he said I'm here already we drove back to San Antonio hospital after a wild goose chase, we came back an the lady at the front desk goes oh yeah he is here, really?. Then I went for and ultrasound I gave them my phone # and email twice they told me in the afternoon, then nothing I went this afternoon and the front desk told me we send it, but we can resent it again, well there is nothing either in my email or phone number, so my fellow ex-pats stay away from this so called hospital

Had to go to the emergency room on Sunday Hospital San Antonio . They had no staff to run the equipment for the necessary tests and only one doctor who had to call another doctor because she didn't know what to do about a very simple case. The doctor said " you shouldn't come on Sunday's because we have very little staff. So...we will try to not get injured on a Sunday! just a heads up if you need a doctor on Sunday's the Ajijic clinic may be a better choices.
