Spectacular hostel. You get a lot of time to yourself and the sleeping accommodations are some of the best I've seen with the extreme heat in mazunte. The two people who run the place as well are utterly spectacular. I got terrible terrible food poisoning and they helped me get better and stay without paying for a few days until I felt good to go. A real gem of the Oaxacan coast. Highly recommend!!

El Manguito is a brand new hostal that blew me away! I stayed there for a week. The owners are so sweet, friendly and positive! The space is super clean, quiet, spacious and the huge kitchen is perfect! The blender and juicer were my favorite! I am super excited to stay here again in the future!

Positive: Location is perfect, 5min walking to the beach and close to all stores, bars and center. All the staff is incredible, Gama and Esther are great hosters, they make you feel very welcome and helpful. Everyday they sent you message to events happening in Mazunte. Big kitchen with fridge, easy to use and as it is central, once you there you easily connect with other travellers :) I would definitely come back and recommend for sure! ??❤️. Negative: The matress could be more confortable.

The reviews are old. I stayed in the 10 bed dorm in low season. The owner Miguel was the least hospitable person in Mazunte. Would not allow access to kitchen, not even the fridge. When I politely asked to use the fridge to store food I was carrying his response was “you’re only paying 100 pesos, you don’t get a kitchen.” I would have gladly paid more for access to the kitchen. No drinking water provided. No WiFi either. You have to use the neighbor’s WiFi which only works near the entrance of the hostel. Maybe it’s different in high season, but I did not feel welcomed at all. The beds were comfortable and the the dorm was clean, but service was terrible. I stayed one night and moved somewhere I felt respected. One of our friends was sick so he stayed, we came later to check on him and bring him food and water. Miguel would not let us stay, he said we checked out so we need to leave, even after we said we came to see our sick friend. He basically kicked us out once we were no longer paying guests. Never had this kind of treatment before. Paying 100 pesos doesn’t mean we deserve to be disrespected and mistreated.

Positive: I really enjoyed my stay at "El Manguito". Esther is an amazing host and owner. She is very friendly, always helpful and has a lot of recommendations about what to do and where to go in and around Mazunte. The atmosphere is very relaxed and the dogs are a plus. :-) The location is a dream. A five minute walk from the beach!! I actually extended my stay twice because everything was great. I'd definitely recommend this place!.
