★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Had an amazing stay here. Gabo and his family are so friendly and helpful. Cool rooftop area to grab a coffee or cook some food and chill out. Close to the Zocalo, markets and amazing food in the area. Definitely recommend!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Hostal San Pueblo is a small hostal near the historic center of Oaxaca, only four or five blocks from the Zócalo and many other places popular to visit. I was here just a few days. As an old cow, I couldn't risk the virus when one guest here lay awake or sat up coughing openly without taking the least precaution against giving whatever he suffered to others. I got a hotel nearby and one other guest abruptly left at the same time. But this doesn't speak I'll of the hostal and certainly not of the two muchachos who manage the place.
The younger of these guys maintains the spaces of the hostal and makes the beds. He's an acrobat, climbing about the top racks to make the bedding fit tight and smooth.
Most everything you do here conscious you do on the roof, which here is the terraza. The kitchen and dining areas are here along with places to warm under the sun on the cold mornings.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Cute hostel. Great location next to the center and the bus stations. Nice people. Fave part is the terrace upstairs. However, there are 2 main entrances. On one side is the reception with the private rooms (quite small, but still ok for 2 people/no window but there is a fan) and next door are the dorms and the private rooms with bathrooms. Also the rooftop is on that side. There is coffee in the morning and water all day. It looks like this is really not a party hostel at all tho, guests are very quiet and dont seem to talk to each other. First hostel where I actually don't meet or talk with people. So if you are looking for a very quiet place, this is it. If you are looking to mingle and hangout, probably is best to look elsewhere.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Centrally located, clean, safe, hot water in the shower, what more can you ask for for $10? I stayed in the private room and it was very small but fine for a couple nights. The room doesn't have a window but there's a nice rooftop terrace to chill. There's also a cat and a dog living here!!
