Hostel Zapotecas - 70934 Puerto Escondido

Hostel Zapotecas has the best location possible in Punta Zicatela, its unsuperable atmosfere, its kitchen and confortable dorms make it the greatest place to stay for travellers looking for homelike feeling abroad.

Good hostel inside the beach, But the police just for Easter in ten minutes closed the hostel and left us all on the street

The location is amazing of course, one step out the front door and you're on the beach. The rooms are basic but what did you expect? There is an abundance of outlets and the wifi is not fast but workable. High speed internet doesn't matter here though because everything is slow and relaxed. To really get the feel for this place you need to stay for multiple days and spend some time lounging on the hammocks and hanging beds, playing chess or volleyball with the other guests, walking on the beach (and probably surfing since that's why most people go here) and cooking up some meals in the kitchen to eat in the shade. Memo is a great host and this is the perfect place to escape to the beach and slow life down a little.

I found it hard to make friends in this hostel. It seemed like everyone already knew each other and cared little about meeting new people. The manager was kind and understanding. He offered to reduce the cost of our stay since it was crazy noisy at the bar next door. Keeping in mind that I stayed during New Year’s Eve.

Location is nice, right on the beach, but the hostel is really run down. Common area is not big enough to accomodate the number of guests staying there and they don't utilize the beach space they have. When we were there there was a bunch of construction happening and lots of junk laying around, really felt like slump. However if you are looking for a cheap place to stay, it's an option

Had a good time in this hostel. Friendly staff and nice people. Very basic, but has everything one needs. Quite a noisy environment. Community kitchen and a kitten!

Been to so many hostels but this one has to be the worst ever. I had to leave the minute I stepped in. Feels like a slum. Yeah sure great location and cheap price, but I'd rather pay more for a cleaner and safer place ☹️

I had a horrific experience with this hostel. After a long day, my girlfriend and me arrived at the Hostel Zapotecas, prior to the given checkin time. Although they were finding the reservation I already had paid for, they told me that they didn’t have enough room for us and would have cancelled the reservation already. However, I didn’t receive any information and also didn’t get my money back. As a response to this, the guy responsible in the Hostel told me ‘ok, then I’m gonna cancel the reservation right now’ - at 10 pm, without us having any backup plan. We had to search for a new place to sleep in the middle of the night and still didn’t receive our money til this day. Also, the hostel seemed like a slum, to be honest. Although I was really annoyed of the whole situation, in the end I was happy not to sleep there.
