Hostels on The Road - 77720 Playa del Carmen

Very friendly staff and great service !!!

The dormitories are very crowded (they put 12 persons in a room of 8 persons). Some beds are just 20 cms separated from each other!

Super nice and new Hostal in playa del Carmen, very clean all rooms and the owners fanny guys. Recomended 100% !!!!!

I did not get a chance to stay here since I got kicked out, so I can only comment on the owner and his partner. I went out at night in Playa and got robbed on my way back to the hostel. My friend let me borrow his computer and I was frantically trying to cancel all my cards while my friend was kind enough to stick around and help me out even though he was clearly exhausted. At one point he dozed off and sleep walked into the wrong room. I was distracted trying to deal with my problems and did not notice. A few minutes later the guard came to kick him out and I thought no big deal of it as it was a very honest mistake and I can say there was never ill intent and even the guests who came out and pointed out the mistake were very calm. A few minutes later the staff told my friend to pack his bags and get out. I tried explaining my situation but never got to finish as the owner just kept interrupting me and eventually decided the best solution was to kick both of us out. The owner even threatened to call the police twice on us while all I was doing was trying to explain the situation which I never got the opportunity to do. Honestly just seems they took a spur of the moment decision and jumping to conclusions. Terrible experience as we were left stranded.

Wasn't willing to accept a price I was offered online, claiming it was a mistake. It's a shame we couldn't have this discussion prior to my check in, and not after my check out. Facilities are lacking. Staff is very nice.

The place is cool, clean and the location is quite good too. There's a basic breakfast included, there's AC in the room, a rooftop and it was cheap in average. The staff was nice and friendly. The only con was the lack of atmosphere because it was just me and another girl.

One of my worst experiences in a hostel. I wish I have never come to this hostel and I recommend everybody to stay away from it. The owners look nice in the beginning, but things can change really fast. For me it just took a complaint about the price of the room,which the owners change at any time and without notice. In my case, I stayed one night there and then I came back after a few days. The hostel was not really good. The room was too crowded and it was far away from the center. There is barely any space between the beds. Air conditioner only works a few hours at night. The kitchen doesn't have microwave and all the pots and pans are too big. Wifi doesn't reach the room. The terrace was just a few chairs and an above ground small swimming pool more for kids than adults. No views from the terrace. You can't keep your luggage in the room with you. You are only allowed to keep a few things in the locker. The luggage need to stay in the reception where everybody has access to it. But even with this, I came back because I didn't have time to find another one and it was cheap. Wrong decision. After arriving the second time, the owners put an excuse for not doing the check in. But they said I needed to tell them the days I will stay because the bed can be booked online. They said it was high season, something it was a lie. They never mention they change the price. They never said anything about the price or the check in. Until the next day I figured out what it was going on. I asked to do the check in and the price. Then everything make sense. They rised the price and they didn't say anything to get more money from me. After complaining without sucess, I decide to leave the hostel and pay only the nights I stayed there. Then the owner became angry and aggressive. He threated to call the police, if I didn't pay all nights. After several threats and arguing for half hour or more, they discount one day. It was unfair, but I didn't want to waste more time with them. I think this kind of trick can only be described as a fraud. And it's easy to see how somebody in a tight budget can get in trouble. I would recomend going to another hostel where the owners are honests and they don't play this kind of tricks. En español: Mucho cuidado con los dueños de este hostal, que solo buscan exprimirte hasta el último centavo. Me quedé aquí dos veces,con unos pocos días de diferencia entre las dos. La primera vez no tuve problema, pero la segunda el dueño dijo que no podían hacer me el check in. Que ya lo haríamos más tarde y que era como familia y no me preocupara. En ningún momento mencionó nada del precio, el cual había subido de un día para otro. Pero no tuvo problemas en meterme presión para que reservara el máximo de días. Poniendo como excusa que ya era temporada alta y que tenía que reservar ahora. Lo cual es mentira, ya que estamos en temporada baja. Al día siguiente le dije que quería hacer el check in y entonces me dijo que el precio había subido. Después de discutir, decidí ir me . Entonces el dueño se saco la máscara de amabilidad y mostró su verdadero rostro de avaricia y maldad. Me dijo que tendría que pagar todos los días o que llamaba a la policía. Después de varias amenazas y de perder tiempo discutiendo,al final me descontó un día. En resumen, manténganse lejos de estos estafadores y evitense problemas. Además el hostal no es tan bueno como parece. Primero, esta lejos del centro y las habitaciones son pequeñas para 12 personas. Apenas hay espacio entre las camas y además te obligan a dejar tu equipaje fuera de la habitación. Solo puedes dejar algunas cosas en la taquilla. El aire acondicionado solo esta puesto unas pocas horas de noche. La cocina no es adecuada para una persona. Todos los cazos y ollas son demasiado grandes. La dueña dice que si no se los roban. Tampoco tiene microondas. El wifi muchas veces no funciona en la habitación. La terraza es decepcionante, sin vistas a ningún lado y con una pequeña piscina parecida a las inflables.
