En el anexo a la casa del balcón, que ahora forma parte también de las instalaciones del hotel Agua Escondida, podemos encontrar una pared donde aún se encuentran las ollas de barro incrustadas, mismas que contenían en su tiempo monedas de oro, plata y joyas, propiedad de los primeros dueños de esta casona.
Dentro de la Casa original, destacaba un abundante manantial de agua cristalina, que recogía una hermosa fuente donde se distribuía para regar patios y jardines. Este manantial se bifurcaba al interior de la construcción de lo que ahora se conoce como el Centro Joyero, y que antiguamente se le conocía como el callejón del “agua escondida” motivo del nombre del hotel.
Actualmente el hotel Agua Escondida ha ido integrando algunos edificios anexos, mediante unos puentes elevados, por el Emprendedor Don Julián Cuevas, fundador del Hotel. Uno de estos edificios, donde ahora se encuentra el estacionamiento del hotel, pertenecía a Don Manuel Castrejón Gómez, otro personaje de Taxco que fundó e inventó la famosa “Agua de Taxco” y la limonada “Yoli”. En 1990, mediante un decreto del Presidente Carlos Salinas de Gortari, el Hotel Agua Escondida (La Casa del Balcón), fue declarado Monumento Artístico e Histórico, y considerado Patrimonio Cultural.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Not sure how this can be a 1-star hotel... rooms are on the smaller side, but it's an excellent place to stay in Taxco. Right on the main square with valet parking available (70 pesos per 24 hours). Some rooms (those above the alleys) are noisier than others (facing the main terrace), and not all have king-sized beds, so that's worth asking for when making the reservation. Breakfast in the attached restaurant was superb.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Rooms were nice looking. Hotel was great. The only downside was the bathroom. No hot water and had leaks in the sink which caused a huge puddle because I had to keep the sink on in order to have warmish water. Other than that Taxco was great.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Quiet and very pretty with great views, in a wonderful location. The property is very big and had lots of terraces that all overlook the cathedral. The rooms are comfortable, the staff nice, and the drinks sufficient. Great place to stay to explore the town.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The hotel is really beautiful with murals of art. It's also right in the center in a great location. Yet there are a few small things that would make it much better. There is no ceiling fan in the rooms, cheap toilet seat, shower water pours under shower door... Also the Terrace bar has limited meal menu. It's a nice place but could be even nicer
