Best happy hour and beach on the Mayan Riviera.

This is a very pleasant place to stay. It is on a large property and is not crowded. We stayed in a bungalow with a family of four. It is not large or fancy but is clean and well kept. There is a huge beachfront with excellent swimming and snorkeling. We saw lots of fish, sea turtles, sting rays, etc. The beach is public and was busier on the weekend but still less crowded than many other places. The pool is very nice. It was not busy during our stay. Most days we had it to ourselves. The restaurant is good. You can also get good food for lower prices just off the beach. You can also walk a bit further over the bridge into the town for a more local experience. The place still has a bit of a beach town feel. Much less touristy than Tulum. The location is great and very convenient for day trips to Xel Ha, yal Ku, and tulum. We had a rental car but there are taxis easily available. Our family decided that we would go back.

We absolutely LOVED our stay here. The location is perfect with it being right on the beach. One night we swam with turtles! We visited in July which turned out to be the quiet season so not many other guests. This meant often we enjoyed the beautiful pool all to ourselves! Staff were pleasant and helpful. Rooms were everything you needed including a fridge and filtered water. Overall Hotel Akumal Caribe was our ideal holiday and great value for money. We hope to visit again soon!

This is our favorite beach and hotel in the Yucatan. We just got back from our fourth stay at the Caribe and had a wonderful time. The rooms are simple but clean, excellent location, such friendly and helpful staff. It's like home away from home...but better! Can't wait to see them again next year.

Friendly staff, nice and clean room. Great location, it is actually on the beach!! Free beds and umbrella on the beach. Snorkling costs extra. The breakfast is a bit poor (toast and Juice) but you can buy extra.

Beautiful beach and the restaurant and waiters are super kind. Unfortunately will not visit again because of the very unkind and unprofessional guard standing at the entrance. He surely will need to learn how to approach mothers with sick babies again who quickly want to leave to go home. Very unpleasant experience!

We visited here in 2005 again in 2016. Although we were scheduled to spend a week here in February of 2022, we just cancelled due to COVID concerns and worries about testing requirements to return home. I write this review to share the amazing and wonderful experience we had booking our trip, coordinating three rooms for our family near our friends who also plan to be there, and ultimately cancelling our week for a full, yes full, hassle-free refund. Leon is so kind and responsive! We are sad to miss this tropical escape but plan to rebook when possible. Thank you, Hotel Akumal, for being so positive with your business practices during this crazy time.

I just spent a week in Akumal and stayed at Hotel Akumal Caribe and had a wonderful experience. Our room was steps away from the beach and very clean. Our room had a window AC unit that worked really well and kept the room cool. The hotel staff were incredibly helpful and told us where to find all the cool lagoons and cenotes, where to rent bikes, where to eat, etc. Great restaurant, Lol-Ha, is next door and right on the beach. It serves great food and drinks, and the wait staff is kind. I recommend the mango margarita! The manager Miguel was very helpful and friendly. Breakfast is included in your stay. Overall, highly recommend staying at Hotel Akumal Caribe.
