Good option if you plan to go to the butterfly reservation early in the morning.

Freezing cold rooms, I think they must refrigerate them, and very stingy with the firewood. Had to fight to get them to repair the hot water heater. Poorly managed, yet, unfortunately, the best place in town. Also very expensive.

First off second off I’m not sure why lonely planet recommend this place it’s decent But way over or what you get for your money I would look elsewhere in town as it’s Barry Spartan and it’s about 20 min walk uphill to town. WiFi doesn’t work in room. Bed is super hard. BUT it’s clean.

Wonderful experience. Was there two nights with a Natural Habitat group. Loved the food in the restaurant and the fireplace in our room. Staff were very nice, professional and easily accommodated our Monarch butterfly schedule and group size.

It's very very cold in the rooms and there's no heater. We got a room with a fireplace but the wood they provide only lasts for an hour and doesn't heat the whole room. The grounds are beautiful but the rooms are very simple and overpriced. It's walkable to the center of town but it is an uphill walk, if you prefer you can catch a taxi or a bus in front of the hotel fairly easily. We had a room in front and had a view of the street with the accompanying road noise. If anyone is in the room above you will hear every move they make through the ceiling. For the room itself, the beds and pillows are very firm so I'd wake up stiff every morning. The blankets were scratchy, the carpets threadbare, there was a small vintage CRT television, the towels were rags, the light bulbs hummed and strobed, the bathroom small and lost in time. There was hot water though! The restaurant was adequate for when you don't feel like going into town - although it's not heated either so wear your coat. For the price I really expected not to spend my entire time there shivering and uncomfortable.

We really enjoyed our stay here. However, be prepared it can be really cold at night and the hotels here are not heated. Arrange for a space heater or extra blankets. The staff is wonderful, and the hotel is close enough to the town center to walk. According to most of the people we asked, the hotel is probably the best pick in Angangueo. The grounds are beautiful.

Good very basic hotel. Not worth more than 1,000 pesos. You have to beg for hot water or any other service. No restaurant.

It is a very pretty and pleasant hotel with beautiful grounds. Where it lacks is dining. The food was tasteless. We were really hungry after driving five hours to get here and I usually eat almost everything on my plate - I left 90% of the food on my plate. I only tasted each dish of the buffet. I went back to my room and ate a bag of potato chips instead ? ! The restaurant was that bad & it is only open from 7:30 to 9. The margaritas are so tiny - three sips and you’re done. There really isn’t any place else to walk to and eat. I guess you could take a taxi to a different restaurant. If you have a car you have to park your car behind a locked gate. So it’s not really convenient to come and go to another restaurant. It was a nice experience except for the food..
