About Hotel Argovia Finca Resort

Finca Argovia dates back to the year 1880, when a Swiss family from the canton "Argau" founded it and gave it the name by which it is known today. At the end of the 19th century it was acquired by Adolf Giesemann and today it is managed by the fourth generation of coffee growers from that same family.

Since its inception, when coffee growers had to live completely autonomously due to communication difficulties with Tapachula (3 days to reach the city), so they developed other crops in parallel with the cultivation of coffee for their own consumption.

The economic-financial crisis that affected and continues to strongly affect the cultivation of coffee, has restricted the area of cultivation and the aromatic distribution companies have established quality standards for differentiated coffees, guaranteeing the safety of the product to the final consumer.

Faced with this situation and in order to Reactivate the Productivity and Profitability of Finca Argovia, the Giesemann family saw the need to Redesign the Production System in accordance with its Vision and Mission, to give it the added value that allows it to remain in the current market.

For this reason, in 1998 the "Production of Tropical Flowers and Foliage" project was introduced, previously carrying out an Economic, Financial, Technical, Social and Environmental feasibility study and it was not until 2004 that the Eco-tourism project began. that allows the visitor to know the benefits of the cultivation of Tropical Flowers and Foliage and the cultivation of coffee, as one of the traditional products of the region that for many years has generated temporary and permanent sources of work for thousands of field workers domestic and foreign.

This diversification has led him to transform his farm into a gigantic nursery where 125 species are cultivated, including coffee trees and fruit trees, which make up a splendid place, among the smells and colors of flowers as rare as they are beautiful. Also the tourist area, for activities in the day, to stay and with this to be able to maintain what the ancestors built with great strength and ideology

The objective of the farm has always been focused on commitments with high quality and permanence over time, using techniques that not only preserve the ecosystem but also strengthen the qualities of the products, mainly coffee with a traditional polyculture arrangement.

Until today, the Farm manages a wet and dry mill in addition to a wastewater treatment plant, the first of its kind operating in Mexico, which allows recycling all waste and generating excellent organic fertilizers. Today Bruno Giesemann Eversbusch, director and owner of the Farm, is clear that the future lies in the diversification of its products.

It is an expensive hotel with subpar facilities, the roads to the rooms are steep and slippery, most of the staff is friendly but clueless on how to help you, another was laughing at me when i asked him when he will pick us up (they have a golf cart service to transport you around) while I was standing in the pouring rain since calling the front desk proved worthless. I understand the idea of a "finca" when you are in touch with nature, but for the price of the rooms the least they should do is fix the screens on the doors and windows (brand new screen is like 30c per Sq.Ft) every screen of every door and window is run down with wholes and scratches that let every kind of bug to enter your room if you try to open any to ventilate the room since there is no A/C. The rooms have a humongous bathroom, with a kind of "open space" layout with a really big opening (something that resembles a window but you cannot close it when you are taking a late night shower to shield you from a chill draft or shade for privacy ) with wood stripes rotting in the corners and of course with a screen that has been punctured all around. The food at the only restaurant is meh, hard to understand when they have such great food all around the state. The pool is super chlorinated which is unacceptable circa 2019. The hotel in itself is in a great location and they have a variety of tours of you are into that, too bad that they cannot keep it on a serviceable state (meaning you get too hot from leaving the windows closed or you dip yourself in bug repellant to survive the night) because it could be a magical place

Beautiful place! I would like to stay here in the future. We went to the restaurant and walked around to see the site. Food and service were excellent! I had the chicken crepes and the sopes arrachera and dessert.

We thoroughly enjoyed our time here. Very serene and peaceful, the lunch was delicious, and Antonio even provided us the coffee tour in English. While prices are a little high for the local area, they were okay for us as tourists from Canada. Will return if ever in the area again.
